  • Congratulations to Jim Ramirez on his induction into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.  The Arkansas City native was recognized as "one of the most accomplished collegiate and folkstyle officials in the nation having officiated 16 straight NCAA Division I National Championships."  (11/6/09)

  • The 2009-10 high school classifications have been announced by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.  (9/28/09)

  • Team USA won three medals at the 2009 World Championships in Denmark.  We had two silver medalists: Dremiel Byers at 120 kg/264.5 lbs and Jake Herbert at 84 kb/ 185 lbs.  Tervel Dlagnev added to our medal count with a bronze at 120 kb/ 264.5 lbs.  Kansas native Shawn Bunch came up short in his first World Championship, losing in the first round to the 2007 World's Silver Medalist.  (9/28/09)

  • The National Federation of State High School Associations has announced the 2009-10 folkstyle rules changes.

  • For the third year, the combined Southern Plains Regionals were held at Fort Hays State University.  With 709 entries from 14 states, this event was a resounding success.  Click on the following to check out the results:

  • During the 2008-09 season there were 8,701 competitor memberships purchased in Kansas.  This was an increase of 395 (nearly 5%) over the prior year's numbers.  The folkstyle age group breakdown is as follows:

  • The USA Wrestling Rulebook & Guide to Wrestling is now available online.  This Freestyle & Greco-Roman rulebook will no longer be mailed in paperback.

  • If you have a wrestling job you would like to have posted on the Jobs Board send the details to mikejuby@usawks.com.

  • You can find results from USAW sanctioned tournaments by clicking on the Results link on the left.  To find results from high school events, click on the High School link and choose "Schedules & Results (includes Duals & Tournaments)".

  • USAW-Kansas has fourteen score clocks available for rent.  These are 4-sided clocks, mounted on 9' tripods, and have 5" numbers with match time, period, score, match number/weight class displayed.  If your club or school is interested in renting these clocks, please contact Jeff Sheets at (785) 922-6865.  The rental rates are very favorable.  Preference will be given to USAW-Kansas sanctioned events first, then on a first-come/first-served basis for other Kansas events.

  • NCEP Bronze Certification is required for all coaches, starting with the state qualifying tournaments on up, including most USAW Regional and National tournaments. Go to the Coaches page for information on upcoming certification clinics.
