Tournament Schedule Where has the year of 2004 gone? It won’t be long and we will be ringing in
2005! In most areas of the state,
wrestling is well underway and several have already gone to their first
tournaments of this season. If you
have not done so, please be get your membership information, club charters,
tournament sanctions, and an updated club information sheet into Kathy Juby
as soon as possible. As Danny is a senior this year, I will once again be
splitting my time this year between Kids and High School Tournaments. I hope to be able to see most of you
sometime during the season. However,
if you ever need to discuss an issue that involves the KIDS LEVEL of
wrestling, please feel free to give me at a call at (785) 944-3630 in the
evenings or email me at gratergr@kansas.net
Tournament Ejections As we begin a new year of wrestling, the USAW Kansas Corporate
Board has asked that I emphasize the importance
that clubs, tournament directors, and officials demand appropriate behavior
from wrestlers, coaches, and fans at our tournaments. We need to enforce the policy that has been set! When an individual is ejected from a
tournament (whatever the reason is), the necessary paperwork should be
completed and forwarded to the appropriate individuals, and the punishment
enforced. When an individual is ejected from the
tournament, as a first offender, they are to receive an 8-day
suspension. Club Directors please help
us enforce this policy. They cannot
attend club practices or any tournaments during this 8-day suspension. If we have an individual who is constantly
causing problems, our constitution has rules that will be followed. If someone is ejected from your tournament, complete the
necessary paperwork and forward a copy to Greg Grater, Loren Anthony, and
Mike Juby. Please try and keep emotions and/or tempers under control this
year. Let’s start setting good
examples for our young wrestlers and others involved with the sport of
wrestling. Scoreclocks for Rent USAW Kansas has 14 scoreclocks
that are available for rent. The cost
is $500 to use them for your tournaments.
There is an enclosed trailer for use in transporting the scoreclocks and are currently available for MOST
weekends. They will be rented to Kids
Clubs first; Kansas HS Tournaments second, and then are open to any other
tournament. They will also be rented
out to BOTH High School State Tournaments this year. The person transporting the trailer must
have a current driver’s license and vehicle registration and insurance. Arrangements can be made to have them
delivered to your tournament site, but you will be charged a delivery and
pick-up fee. If you are interested in
renting the scoreclocks, contact Greg Grater (785)
944-3630. Keep Our Wresting Family In Your Thoughts & Prayers During the
With the holiday season
ahead, please keep in mind individuals who are less fortunate that you may
be. Our wrestling family is very
special and the power of prayer can do a lot for individuals in need. Please keep in your
thoughts a young man, Tyler Graebner, who wrestles
for Team Lighting. He has been
diagnosed with liver and pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing
treatment in Please remember all other
members of our wrestling family during this holiday season. Whether they may be having health problems,
personal or financial problems, dealing with the loss of a family member, or
are serving our country, remember them and their families in your thoughts
and prayers during this special time of the year. Grater Update Several of you ask, so if
you haven’t heard or read, Danny did sign a National Letter of Intent to
wrestle for Season Greeting From the Graters!! From all of us at the
Grater household (Leanna, Danny, Gavin, and myself) we would like to take
this time to wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! May God bless each of you and grant you ALL
your holiday wishes! Yours in wrestling, Greg Grater |
