Compiling an impressive record of 150 wins and only 3 losses in his four years of wrestling for Columbus Unified High School in Columbus, KS, Austin DeVoe is a perfect selection for 4A Senior Wrestler of the Year.
DeVoe was high school 4A regional champion from 1998-2001 and went on to take the state title his sophomore year at 103 lbs., his junior year at 112 lbs., and his senior year at 119 lbs. He boasted two consecutive undefeated seasons his sophomore and junior years. Along with state and regional titles he was the 4-time Kansas state freestyle champion, 3-time Missouri dual freestyle champion, and the Southern Plains freestyle champion. In 1999 he wrestled at 105.5 lbs. at Junior Nationals All American Freestyle in Fargo, ND and took home 3rd place. He was also runner-up freestyle at Fila Cadet Nationals in 2000.
DeVoe, was named to the Joplin Globe all-area team all four years, was awarded his school’s Most Pins Award all four years (105 high school career pins), won the Gorrarian Award in 2000, and was the CHS Outstanding Wrestler from 1999-2001.
His senior year accomplishments and honors include: Kansas High School 4A Wrestler of the Year, Kansas All Academic 1st Team, Senior High School Nationals All-American, 3rd place, and 1st place at Western Jr. Regional Championships at Las Vegas, NV.
DeVoe signed a letter of intent to wrestle for the University of Missouri, Columbia.
