Brent Maycock is entering his 2nd year as the Prep Sports Writer for the Topeka-Capital Journal. He is a past KWCA award winner. Maycock previously worked as the Sports Editor for the Emporia Gazette from 1991 until 2000.

Brent graduated from the University of Kansas in May of 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism.

Maycock has covered every state wrestling meet since 1992 and has done pre-state pages in the Emporia Gazette. He also covers three to four regular season meets and Regional meets.

“If my school had offered wrestling, I would have participated in it,” states Brent. “It is the ultimate in one-on-one competition. I think media outlets across the state cover the sport well.”
