               In his first year as preps coordinator for the Lawrence Journal-World, Steve Rottinghaus has enjoyed featuring and previewing key prep wrestling events in Lawrence and surrounding areas.  He began covering wrestling in 1991 as an assistant sports editor and became a Journal-World sportswriter in 1994.  Before covering wrestling he worked as a KU sports correspondent for the Topeka-Capital Journal from 1988-1990.

               Rottinghaus graduated from the University of Kansas in 1990 with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism.

 “Wresting has definitely taken off in northeastern Kansas,” he says, “Our readers are becoming more interested in wrestling and the faces in the sport.  We just hope we can continue to meet the demands of our readers.”
