Fort Hays State University All-American Pete Koster is this year's selection as the KWCA College Senior Wrestler of the Year. Koster compiled a 20-7 record as a senior, placing fifth in the NCAA Division II national championships.
During his senior season, Koster placed second at the FHSU Open and third at the West Regional. He led the Tigers in takedowns and falls as well. He helped his Tiger team finish fifth as a team in the NCAA Division II team race and was a member of the 2002 FHSU Academic All-American team.
During his four-year collegiate career, Koster earned three All-American honors total. In junior college at Colby Community College, Koster earned two All-American awards by lacing seventh and second in the NJCAA national tournament.
At Hoxie High School, Koster was a four-time 3-1A state place winner. He finished second, first, third, and fourth at the state meet.
Koster's future plans are to work in the agricultural industry. He has been working the past two summers in internship programs for companies that help farmers manage their crops. His major at Fort Hays State was Agricultural Business.
