Corey Scott is this year’s selection as the KWCA Official of the Year. Scott has served as a Kansas wrestling official for twelve years now.

Prior to officiating, Scott was an assistant wrestling coach at Highland Park High School for three years, at Landon Middle School for six years, at Topeka West High School for one year, and at Central College (Iowa) for one year. He also coached with the Topeka Tornadoes kids wrestling club for two years.

As a competitor, Scott was a three-time state placer for Plainville High School, finishing fourth, fourth, and second in the 3-1A state championships from 1987-89. He competed at 138 pounds as a sophomore, at 167 pounds as a junior, and at 160 pounds as a senior when he posted a record of 31-1.

Scott was a state championship team in 1988 and a state runner-up team in 1989. He was selected for the East/West All-Star dual in 1989. He was voted as “Outstanding Wrestler” at the Silver Lake and Kaw Valley Old Timer’s Tournaments and was the Beloit Tournament champion.

Scott attended Washburn University, receiving a B.A. degree in Athletic Training and an A.S. degree in Physical Therapy. He currently resides in Parkville, Missouri.
