CHUCK REINERT

The KWCA coaches selected Chuck Reinert of Garden City as this year’s award winner as Official of the Year.
Reinert has served the sport of wrestling as an official for an impressive 21 years, also being named as KWCA Official of the Year in 1994. He has served as Vice President of the Kansas Wrestling Officials Association in 1995-96 and as President in 1997-98.
Reinert attended Pueblo South High School in Pueblo, Colorado, graduating in 1977. He placed third in the Colorado State tournament at heavyweight in 1977. He was also a second-team All-State football player in 1977 as well.
Reinert continued his football career at Garden City Community College, playing on two conference championship teams from 1977-1979.
As an official, Reinert has officiated eight 3-2-1A State Tournaments, and eight 4-5-6A State Tournaments in the past 16 years. He has also worked three NJCAA Regional Wrestling Tournaments.
Reinert also has officiated four Jayhawk Conference Softball National Qualifying Tournaments, and two Jayhawk Conference Baseball JUCO World Series Qualifying Games. He has worked two 5A State Semi-Final Football games.
He was also the head scorekeeper at the 2003 NCAA Wrestling Finals in Kansas City, MO with 35 fellow KWOA officials.
Reinert lives in Garden City with his wife of 21 years, Catherine. He has three children: Amanda, Evan, and Jayne. He works for Garden City Community College as a Sports Turf Specialist and Williams Stadium Superintendent. Along with wrestling, he officiates high school and college football, volleyball, baseball, and softball.
