For 24 years, Wilmer Bahe served as a radio announcer for KLOE Radio in Goodland, providing coverage for high school wrestling events.

Bahe has covered high school wrestling duals, invitational tournaments, regional and state tournaments, and live activities. This past season, he called in updates from the Senior Nationals in Cleveland, Ohio, for all of the Western Kansas wrestlers that participated in that tournament.

Bahe’s coverage of high school wrestling in Goodland and for Western Kansas has earned him a Media of the Year award for 2003-04.

“I think the sport of wrestling is a very important part of the high school educational program,” Bahe said. “I would like to see high school wrestling in the state of Kansas receive more media coverage than it currently receives and I am willing to continue to be a part of that effort.”
