6A Senior Wrestler of the Year - 2004

CODY GARCIA
Hutchinson High School

With a career record of 132-9, Cody Garcia hauled in three state titles and one third-place finish for Hutchinson High School. In his senior year, Garcia went 38-0, winning tournament titles at Bristow (Oklahoma); Lee’s Summit (Missouri); Salina South, Newton, Blue Valley Northwest, Rose Hill, and Regionals, in addition to State. He was named Outstanding Wrestler at Bristow, Salina South, and Rose Hill.

Garcia also worked hard in the classroom and put together a GPA of 3.0 in his four years of high school.

Garcia also earned All-American honors in Fargo, North Dakota, in freestyle competition.

His hard work on the wrestling mats and in the classroom landed him a scholarship at the University of Nebraska-Omaha for coach Mike Denney. UNO is perennially atop the NCAA Division II national finishers.
