5A Coach of the Year - 2004

Coach Chris Paisley led his Blue Valley Tiger team to a 10-0 dual record season, as well as a East Kansas League title, a regional title, and a fifth-place finish in the 5A state tournament. For his successes, Paisley was chosen as the Head Coach of the Year by the 5A coaches.
Paisley’s team had 13 state qualifiers and five state placers. His wrestlers placed first, second, third, fourth, and sixth at the 5A state tournament in Wichita. He was also named 2004 All-Sun Country Wrestling Coach of the Year.
Paisley has been Blue Valley head coach for two years, after 11 years as an assistant. In his two years as head coach he has gone 18-2 in duals and has had 24 state qualifiers, eight state placers, and one state champion. In his total years at Blue Valley, he has helped coach 90 state qualifiers, 38 state placers, and five state champions.
Paisley teaches Physical Education and Social Studies at Blue Valley Academy.
As a competitor, Paisley competed for two years at Northwest Guilford High School in North Carolina, going 38-8. He then moved to Blue Valley and went 54-9 in two years, finishing as a state runner-up as a senior, helping his team finish third. He was a two-time Kansas City All-Metro honorable mention selection and set a state record for 14 technical falls in a season, a record he still holds to this day. He also holds the state record for 22 career technical falls.
