JARROD STEFFENS
Baldwin High School
Jarrod Steffens joined the Baldwin wrestling coaching staff and helped lead the Bulldogs to its first outright Frontier League title since 1976 as the Bulldogs won the dual championship by going undefeated in duals. The team put together a total dual record of 15-5, 9-0 in league, putting together the team’s fifth consecutive winning dual season.
The Bulldogs also placed third at the Washburn Rural Championship Duals, third at the Frontier League tournament, and third at Regionals. They had six state qualifiers and two state placers (a runner-up and third-place finisher).
Steffens was an important part of the team’s success, working with the upperweights and coaching both the varsity and junior varsity squads.
Steffens just completed a successful football career at Baker University, earning Scholar All-American honors in 2002 and 2003 and was an Academic All-Conference player. He was a team captain as a defensive lineman for the Wildcats and will graduate Cum Laude in December 2004 with a degree in Physical Education and Health and with teaching certification. He is currently student teaching in the Baldwin school district and also helping to coach the football team which has a record of 7-1 on the season so far.
Before coming to Baker, Steffens was a successful wrestler and football player at tradition-rich Scott City High School. He was a four-year letterman in wrestling and a three-time state qualifier. He placed fourth in state at 189 pounds as a senior with a 37-3 record.
