As a sports reporter for the Lawrence Journal-World, Ryan Wood provided coverage of all wrestling duals involving Lawrence and Lawrence-Free State High Schools, as well as covering various tournaments and/or duals involving area schools such as Baldwin, DeSoto, Eudora, Mill Valley, Perry-Lecompton, Santa Fe Trail, Tonganoxie, and Wellsville.

Wood, who received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Kansas in 2003, previously worked as a sports intern/stringer for the Independence Examiner and a writer/columnist for the University Daily Kansas. He has been with the Lawrence Journal-World for two years.

“I think the media has an impact in the popularity of sports like wrestling,” Wood said, “and we have an obligation to give the hard-working athletes their due.”
