3-2-1A Assistant Coach of the Year - 2005

STEVE JENKINS
St. Francis High School

Steve Jenkins is being awarded a coach award along with colleague Daryl Loyd of St. Francis High School.

Loyd and Jenkins helped lead St. Francis to a 5-1 dual record, 11-1 overall record, and an NWKL championship. The team won titles at Brush, Wray, Republican Valley, and Sterling; finished second at St. Francis, league, and state; and finished third at regionals. The squad had eight state qualifiers and six state placers.

Jenkins has spent his career at SFHS, coaching junior high and high school from 1976-2005, and teaching history and government. He graduated from Northern Colorado and has a Master’s degree from Fort Hays St. He played football, wrestling, and baseball in high school.

In 1995, he was KWCA and NWCA Assistant Coach of the Year.
