MATT MURRAY

Colby’s Matt Murray had an impressive career in the collegiate ranks. His highlight was finishing as the NCAA Div. I runner-up as a junior for Nebraska.
As a senior, Murray had a 24-7 record. He defeated former national champion Teyon Ware of Oklahoma to earn Big 12 Wrestler of the Week. He won the Virginia Duals and was third at Las Vegas.
His career college record was 34-4 at Colby CC and 62-21 at the Nebraska. He was a two-time NCAA qualifier, an NCAA runner-up, a Big 12 runner-up, and had big wins over Ware and number one ranked Nate Gallick of Iowa State. He competed at 141 pounds his entire career.
With a 3.92 GPA, Murray was a UNL Student-Athlete of the Year nominee and an Academic All-American.
At Colby High School, Murray was 138-12, a two-time state champion, and earned both fokstyle and greco-roman All-American honors. He also was a two-time state tennis qualifier, placing fourth as a senior, and a state qualifier in cross country.
He currently is continuing to train and helping coach at Nebraska, while pursuing his degree in mathematics.
