Burlington High School
Rusty Emling and Tim Johnson of Burlington High School have teamed up with head coach Doug Vander Linden to make the BHS Wildcats a winning program.
The Burlington ‘Cats went 18-5 in duals last year to extend their dual winning streak to nine years. They won five team trophies and were second at Regionals for their first regional trophy in school history. They also had a school record seven state qualifiers.
Emling has been at Burlington for ten years, where he has been an assistant wrestling coach, assistant football coach, and for the last four years the head football coach. He previously coached at Anderson County in both football and wrestling. He teaches PE and Strength & Conditioning.
Emling graduated from Emporia State University in May of 1993. He was an all-league wrestler and Shrine Bowl football player in Illinois in high school.
He and wife Kathi have four children.
