Media of the Year - 2006
BOB LATTA
Hesston Record
The Hesston community has Bob Latta to thank for fantastic wrestling coverage in the Hesston Record. Latta is being recognized as a Media of the Year award winner for his news and photo coverage of wrestling and for meet information and results for the Hesston Kids Wrestling program.
Latta has been a news and sports reporter, and web manager for the Hesston Record for two years. He previously worked as editor/publisher of the Hesston Record, editor of the Clearwater Times, and copy editor and religion writer at the Wichita Eagle.
He graduated from Kansas State University in 1968 with a BA in journalism, and from Kansas State with a MS in journalism in 1970.
“Supposedly, there are ‘major’ and ‘minor sports. But if a parent has a son or daughter involved in a given sport, that sport – whether it’s wrestling or something else – is not ‘minor’ to them,” Latta said. “Because of that, the so-called minor sports deserve some time in the spotlight, too.
