Clay Center
Dennis Charbonneau’s Clay Center team took charge and won the 4A state title for the second straight year. In fact his teams have won four state titles in the past 7 years. Besides winning the 4A tournament, CCCHS did a lot of winning this past season. They finished in second at the Valley Duals and the Newton Tournament of Champions, and they won the Clay Center Tournament, Rossville Invitational, Beloit Invitational, Silver Lake Invitational, and Regional Tournament.
Charbonneau coached at Anderson County for seven years before coming home to his alma mater in 1997. His teams have been in the top eight at state every year. He has had 128 state qualifiers, 63 placers, eleven state champions, and 29 All-Americans.
He teaches Chemistry and Physics and graduated from Fort Hays State in 1989. He was a three-time state champion at CCCHS and two-time Academic All-American at Colby CC. This is his second 4A Coach of the Year Award.
