INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 29) – Defending national champion Central Oklahoma pushed six individuals in to the finals and had a comfortable lead in the team race at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional here Saturday afternoon.
Advancing to the finals for the Bronchos were 133 Tim Elliott, 141 Kyle Evans, 149 Colby Robinson, 184 Heath Jolley, 197 Jarrett Edison and heavyweight Dustin Finn, while 165 Jason Leavitt and 174 Daniel Morrison were still alive in the consolations.
UCO, looking for its third straight regional title and the 18th in 19 years, had 106.5 points for a 20-point lead over second-place Ashland. Findlay was third in the nine-team tournament with 72.5 points, followed by Wisconsin-Parkside (70) and host Indianapolis (69).
The consolation and championship finals are set for a 3:30 p.m. (Oklahoma time) start and will be audio webcast live on UCO’s athletic website.
The top-four finishers at each weight qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships, set for March 14-15 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Elliott, seeded second here and rated sixth nationally, moved into the finals with a pair of falls in a weight that features three wrestlers ranked in the top six. He pinned No. 2 seed and fourth-rated Craig DeGreef of Wisconsin-Parkside in the semifinals and will have second-ranked Shane Perkey of Indianapolis in the championship bout.
Edison posted 18-6 and 11-1 major decisions to make the finals against third-ranked Josh Ohl of Ashland.

I think Hays region is top four to qualify...not sure on the others.
Does anyone have any details on Elliott's matches? Did he get caught for back in the finals?

Elliott wrestled well. Not his best per him, of course. He was wrestling another very accomplished wrestler. Per Tim her needed to shoot more. I think if they meet again, Tim will close the gap in the score.

Thanks for the info on Elliott. It looks like Jarrett has been wrestling well lately too.
Does anyone have any info on the NCC Region? I went to the link but nothing is up yet. Team scores?

A little addition on the Elliott finals match. I was really tired when I posted that and didn't really think it out. After a long discussion with Coach Ed...Tim did get caught once and put to his back. Also, the biggest correction is that Tim DID shoot, actually that is how his opponent scored was from capitalizing on Tim's shots. Perkey is really strong and a formidible opponent. Again, Coach Ed and I think Tim will narrow the gap on their next meeting.
Thanks for the comments regarding Jarrett. We are very proud of his accomplishments at UCO. We are looking forward to Nationals and next year with hopefully two Edisons on varsity.

In college wrestling at the regionals, they wrestle for a true fourth position. I know if the regional FHSU was in, it happened twice and both of the 5th place wrestlers challenged and won their matches, SO they will be going and not the wrestler who placed 4th in the tournament.
This may have been the case because the bracket from the regional tournament shows that he was defeated before wrestling for 3rd.
