East KS Senior Classic

You are cordially invited to join us for this 3rd annual wrestling event which will match up the best wrestlers in East KS 2010 graduating class. This event will be wrestled in a dual team format; the two teams will be selected from a pool of interested and available participants of the previously published USAWA East KS All-Senior Team. They will be coached by Pat Kelly of Topeka Seaman, Harry Lamar of Silver Lake, Chad Parks of Shawnee Heights, and Doug Vander Linden of Burlington. Please come out in support of the best 2010 East KS Senior wrestlers!

District 1 is East Kansas

I want to put a plug in for everyone to come out after the District 1 weigh-in and support the wrestlers competing in the 3rd Annual East KS Senior Classic. Doors to the Expocentre will open at 7:00pm and introductions will kick-off at 7:30pm. Wrestlers with USAWA cards will get in FREE! We have had a few changes to our line. We have ten very competitive matchups. Some of which are rematches from highly contested in season pairings and some have a “big school vs. small school” flair. The wrestlers will be cornered by four accomplished coaches. Chad Parks of Shawnee Heights and Pat Kelly of Topeka Seaman will lead the Blue Team. Harry LaMar of Silver Lake and Doug Vander Linden of Burlington will take charge of the Red Team. Randy Hinderliter will announce and offer color commentary for his 3rd consecutive East KS Senior Classic.

Please come out and support these 20 great seniors on Friday evening. They are going to put on a good show and showcase the skills that have brought them success during their HS careers!! It will be 10 great matches when these guys leave it all out on the mat.

Mark Stanley had done a great job of organizing this event for seniors in District #1. It takes a TON of work to pull this off, and Mark (and crew) has gone through all the pains to make this a go! It also promotes a BIG weekend of wrestling in Topeka with the Classic on Friday, Districts on Saturday and the Hard Luck Tourney on Sunday!

It is so much harder to do a Senior All Star event in wrestling than in any other sport. Getting seniors to commit around the Spring Break time frame. Getting guys to practice extra 2 to 3 weeks after the season is over. Finally, getting guys that are somewhat close to their original weights to be willing to compete, even with a few additional pounds of weight allowance!!
