Wrestling set to host Swede Open on November 9

After opening their season at the Oklahoma City University Open on November 3, the pre-season ranked number 12 Bethany College wrestling team returned to Lindsborg in preparation of hosting their third annual Swede Open on Saturday, November 9.

The event begins at 9 a.m., and features seven mats and over 300 entries. Classes 125-165 will compete in the Smoky Valley High School Gym, and divisions 174-285 will compete in the Smoky Valley Middle School Gym. The two gyms are across a commons area from each other.

Teams competing at the open include: Bacone College, Baker University, Bethany College, Colby Community College, Concordia University (Neb.), Doane College, Fort Hays State University, Graceland University, Hastings College, Midland University, Northeastern Oklahoma Community College, Northwest Kansas Tech, Oak Hill Wrestling Club, Oklahoma City University, Pratt Community College, Texas Club, University of Central Missouri, University of Nebraska-Kearney, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Oklahoma, Wayne State College, Wichita State University Club, and York College.

The Swede Open takes place at Smoky Valley High School: 1 Viking Blvd. Lindsborg, Kan. 67456.

General Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for students and ages 55-and-older, and free for kids.

"We are excited for our team to have the opportunity to compete at home," said Head Coach Jacob Marrs. "The tournament has grown and we are excited about the competition. Go Swedes!"
