Attention all Coaches--

 

District II will be hosting our first Bronze Clinic of the season on Sunday, November 9, 2008.  Ed and Jennifer Edison will be putting on the clinic at the Wellington HS.  Sign ups will begin at noon on Sunday and we will finish up around 6pm that evening.

 

There are some changes this year that will greatly affect your ability to attend the clinic.  Please make sure you or your coaches follow all these directions.

 

A.  First the coach must go online and do their background check as per the rules set out by USA Wrestling.  This is mandatory before a coaches card or bronze clinic can be purchased.  This costs $17.00 that you must pay online with a credit card.  Here are the instructions from the USAW website.

 

  

Coaches are required to complete a background check every two years.  Before issuing a current coaches' card, your club will require you to provide proof that you have passed the background check.  The cost of the background check is $17.  Here are the instructions on what you need to do to complete your background check:

Go to https://www.themat.com/membership

Sign in or create a new account.  Your club director can give you your user id and password if you were a member coach last year.

Under "Note 1", click on the link to start the background check.  If you do not see "Note 1,"click 'Profile' in the upper right corner of the screen and click 'BG Check History' near the top of the screen.  Please note that you will be required to use a different user id and password in the background check website - do not try to use your USA Wrestling user id and password.

4.

After completing the background check, do not attempt to purchase a membership online.  This feature is disabled for Kansas coaches.

5.

After the background check is complete you will receive an email notice indicating whether or not you have successfully passed the background check. Provide this confirmation notice to the club director, who will then be able to purchase your coaches' membership from the state office.

 

B.  After your background check is complete, you much send a copy of the results to the representative for your wrestling club and have them issue you a wrestling card.  The wrestling card costs $35.

 

C.  When you report to the Bronze Clinic you must bring both your certificate of passing the background check AND your new 2008-2009 USAW coaches card.  You must obtain this card through a club.  YOU CANNOT BUY A COACHES CARD ON SITE AT THE BRONZE CLINIC AND YOU CANNOT ATTEND THE BRONZE CLINIC WITHOUT A COACHES CARD.

 

D.  You must attend the complete bronze clinic which lasts approximately 6 hours.  You must pay for the class at registration.  Registration fee is $60.  Payable to USAW.

 

E.  At the Edisons clinics we provide lunch, drinks and snacks to help up keep moving during the clinic.  We ask that you bring $5 for your lunch.
