Nigel --

I tried to diplomatically handle this situation by personal email asking you to remove my son's name from your post. You replied with sarcasim and your thoughts of "right to free speech." Well -- here's my free speech. I believe you also went on to talk about YOUR disappointment of being injured costing a scholarship for wrestling because of an injury. I take it there wasn't an academic scholarship to back you up. You could have learned alot in the ETHICS classes. You've preached numerous times about sportsmanship. Where does personal threats fall into your agenda in sportsmanship?

Quote:
"Of course if you really want to find that out im sure we can meet up at a tournament this summer, that is if you know how to wrestle freestyle." AND .......
"OU812 please tell me who you are and maybe I'll give ya a chance to have a piece of me. Im not really into wrestling people without names."

Twice in one topic!!! And I thought you were injured???

One thing my college education taught me was to practice what you preach. If you are as devoted to sportsmanship as you THINK you are, you probably would not being taking personal jabs at our devine youth of Kansas.

For the record: I have spoken with numerous people that were watching Jimmy's match including several of the Maize Wrestling organization, Jimmy's coaches, and OUR club president. Everyone saw the same picture, unlike the picture that you THINK you saw. We have had the privlege of wrestling the Kellers, practicing with the Kellers, visting with the Kellers, and meeting up with the Kellers at NATIONAL tournaments and have enjoyed every minute of it. Hopefully our boys will be successful in their wrestling careers and ACADEMICALLY to get a college education. I'm sure they will learn some ETHICS along the way.

In reply to your satirical email -- As a parent, I would NEVER allow my son to wrestle for a so called COACH that finds enjoyment at a twelve year old's expense!!! On second thought, evaluating your posts, you spend more time as a spectator hawkeyeing wrestlers who do not gently place their band on the mat and spectators who are feeling the same pain of the wrestler. Sounds to me like you would be a better spectator than coach. In addition, you will never be blessed with the opportunity to EVER coach THE BOMB!

I wish the ABILENE wrestling organization the best of luck in their ventures with you.

Sincerely ---
Steve & Mary Stults

Should we not forget as coaches that we have been coaching these kids all year long and if they are doing something wrong, on the mat or off, it is are falt and that decipline should be taken care of in the practice room. I personally got tired of seeing coaches yelling, screaming, pulling body parts on a kid when they came off the mat like they just wrestled their "own careers" last match. We all talk about building our clubs numbers up, if you want that, then make it fun for the kids so they come back for more fun next year. Any kid that made it to State is commended in my book!

hey nigel i think it is funny that you brag on kids you have coached and rag on marrs, when i can recall seeing a high school senior from Abilene cry, through leg band, and then stomp off all in the same match. this happend this year and i wont mention any names (stopping other stupid posts from being made).

Well let me see,

Quote:
"Of course if you really want to find that out im sure we can meet up at a tournament this summer, that is if you know how to wrestle freestyle." AND .......
"OU812 please tell me who you are and maybe I'll give ya a chance to have a piece of me. Im not really into wrestling people without names."

Yes I said this and I meant them. They are not threats they are offers or can't you tell the difference. Jacob said he could beat me in a wrestling match and all I did was offer him the chance. I don't see how this is a threat. THe same goes for OU812, if they want to wrestle me then I will be more than happy. I "was" injured keyword being was, that was 3 years ago and I've since had surgry.

Next, Obviously you don't know me so you should do a little research before you go spouting off about stuff you don't know. Now I don't want to talk about myself cuase I get in trouble for that but I feel I must in this situation. As a matter of fact becuase I did not take the wrestling scholorship I did in fact take an "Academic" scholarship to the University Of Missouri, I transfer to K-State this year for personal reasons, but of course you didn't know that. You keep speaking to me as if im not educated, when in fact I am in college at K-State as we speak majoring in Computer Engineering.

And no disrespect to you son, but I would not want to coach a kid who would do something like that. I never said anything about gently placing a band on the mat, but I don't condone throwing one thats for sure. And I never said I got enjoyment at a 12 year olds expense I said I noticed it and it stuck in my mind. I was being sarcastic when I said "watching .... throw a fit" as in I didn't agree with it and it should not have happened. I don't need to be blessed with The Bomb, whatever that is? I am blessed to have been able to coach the Abilene team which I feel is one of the best in the state. There is a reason why Abilene is bringing home State championships year after year and Valley Center is not, its the coaching of the Kids club not including myslef becuase i've only been there 3 years, the middle school coaching ,and the high school coaching. Why would I want to coach somewhere with no future? One last thing, at your request I removed your sons name so noone would know that didn't see it. But then you just happened to include it again in your post so now its just back out there again.

luvwrestling,

obviously I would not have coached any high school seniors, so I cannot accept responsibility for what that person may have done. I know of whom you talk about, and I have no excuses for him. If he did indeed do this then perhaps he deserves the same comment. Had I seen it and I was in a position to say something I would have but I was not.
Its sad that it happened but nothing can be done now.

Also let me quote just a few things that are on this very forum so people will quit complaining to me cause I hurt their feelings since they think im the only one who says anything like this.

See post --- "Strait Vs. Weishar"

Wherein many people bash Officials becuase of a judgement call, when these people are just doing a job for the love of the sport. THen they go on to bash Jacob saying he shouldn;t have won.

There are more but I don't feel the need to put them here. I still fail to understand how certain people can't be responsible for their actions and own up. If you did something and someone calls you on it then don't get upset and try and make excuses just say your sorry and move on.

One of the funniest things I have seen related to the state tournament this year. Is parents and coaches acting like children on the forum after the tournament

JIMMY HAS NOT ONLY THROWN FITS HE ALSO POUNDS HIS HEAD ON THE CEMENT WALLS AFTER A LOSS WE NOTICED THIS AT THE MAIZE TOURN LAST YEAR. WE HAVE WATCHED HIM FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS NOW AND HE IS A GREAT WRESTLER BUT BY THE TIME MY SON WAS HIS AGE THE FITS, TEMPER THROWING, AND CRYING WERE GONE. IF YOU LOOSE TAKE IT LIKE A GREAT WRESTLER AND WALK OFF PROUD TO HAVE MADE IT AS FAR AS YOU DID. WALK OFF WITH DIGNITY AND PRIDE FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR HARD WORK THROUGH OUT THE SEASON, IT WILL MAKE YOU A BETTER PERSON AND THEN THINGS LIKE THE PREVIOUS POSTS WILL NOT BE MENTIONED.

Are there others out there that enjoyed this topic the way it was started? And as usual, a few people have to ruin what could have been a really interesting chain of comments. This is just another thing that parents and coaches can't leave alone and let it run its course. For the person that started this post and your top 10 list that was great. I too loved Hinderliter's wardrobe. No matter where he was in the arena, you could always find him. The national anthem was great, but I always love to hear it sung well too so you can sing along. There were so many good things that happened, it is such a shame so many have to concentrate on what they thought was bad.

I AGREE---BUT---PEOPLE THRIVE ON BAD OVER GOOD AND I JUST HOPE THAT WE CAN TEACH OUR KIDS RESPECT AND DIGNITY FOR THEMSELVES AS WELL AS OTHERS AND NOT GIVE PEOPLE A REASON THE COMMENT ON THE BAD. IF SITUATIONS LIKE POOR SPORTSMANSHIP AND TEMPER TANTRUMS DIDNT OCCUR THEN PEOPLE WOULDNT TALK. IM SORRY WE HAVE TO WITNESS ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

Yes well it was not my intention to make it a negative thread. In fact I was trying to be funny in most cases but as usual people have to take offense to something that was pretty trivial in the first place.
