Justin ware was a senior national champ 4timer and started at nebraska his freshman year and used to spank temore terry and scotty goodell was a national champ d2 so they would have to be on there somewhere.

Here is another Kansas Wrestling Trivia question.
Bobby Lashley is the correct answer to the first.
Now, what former Kansas HS All American is one of Lashleys financial advisors? Hints: He wrestled with Bobby Lashley in college and was also a National Champion. He was one of two wrestlers to place at high school nationals the same year that they wrestled in the finals of the same high school regional.

Andy, To answer your question, Bobby won it once.
What is he doing now-a-days?
I had heard that he had success at the next level, but wasn't sure of the details. I believe that he was a four time national champ at MoValley. MoValley has always recruited and won with Kansas kids. He went to Colorado Springs and trained for the Olympics for a bit, I think.

I have to agree with Randy Hinderliter. Of course this dates me somewhat, but these guys were some of the original studs from Kansas. I believe they were the catalyst in putting Kansas on the map as a up-and-coming wrestling state.
Melvin Douglas 3x State Champ Juniors National Freestyle Champ 2x National Champ for Oklahoma University Tiblisi Champ World Champ if memory serves me correctly 2x Olympian(I believe he finished around the top 5) I know I left some out.
David Ray 3x State Champ(Losing only one match in high school I believe) 2x Juniors Greco National Champ Runner up Juniors National Championship. Wrestled for Iowa U---I can’t remember, but I think received All-American honors
Kenny Fisher 3x State Champ Juniors All-American Wrestled for Oklahoma
Chris Marrisette---Spelling? 3x State Champ
Lance Milsap 3x State Champ
And for the final statistic. All of these guys kicked my butt at one time or another in summer freestyle, but so did a lot of other people, so there is nothing impressive about this stat.

This is a really cool thread. Some of the younger guys only know what they have seen, and to a lot of them the mid 90's are ancient history. Can't blame them for that...

David Ray. Wasn't he a 2-time Junior National Greco champ? Has won a few championships as a coach in Montana also. 3rd at NCAA at I think EDINBORO (SP?)

I think a ton of respect has to be shown for those that plowed the road for all of us. But as an athlete, I think the accomplishments of all our 4-timers are lights out!
With that said, Roy Oeser in my mind is one of the greatest ... greatest given the weight classes he won in.
Roy Oeser, Wichita-Kapuan Mt. Carmel (5 titles)
1974 - 3A - 155 lbs. 1975 - 3A - 155 lbs. 1976 - 3A - 167 lbs. 1976 - Grand State - 167 lbs. 1977 - 3A - 167 lbs.
I graduated in '73. While the technique back then may have been a bit more on the crude side, the athletes were absolutely brutal. Kudos to Oeser!

... and of course Akin's credentials go much farther than that! He has twice been the alternate to the US Olympic Team. He has been a National champ in Freestyle and a Pan-Am champ. He has won several National and International tournies in Freestyle. He competed in, something like 13 or 14, World Team Trials. Not only competing but was a finalist several times and once represented the US at the World Championships.
But in High School, he was a multi-time champ and placer at Fargo and twice, I believe, was the most outstanding wrestler at that tourney. Some of these accolades were in the Greco style.
Now, he is competing in Real Pro Wrestling and brawling in a few MMA fights. And he still finds to time to coach some up and coming stars!
I am very proud to include Eric as one of my friends within the sport!

And if memory serves me right Spaulding started in Wamego when his Dad coached there. So wrestling didn't start in Emporia just weight management!

Akin holds the state record for most AA's at Fargo. He placed 4 times in the same year! Won Freestyle and Greco in Cadet winning OW in both then placing 3rd and 4th in Free and Greco as a Junior. Very impressive if you ask me.
