If forum members haven't checked out the Pete's Thread on the Other Forum, do so as nominations and all are flying in. This could be a lot of fun and the fact that so many are helping is of value. Here is a paste of the last post. Again, check out the "official" thread there. Click Here To See The Official Pete's Thread Now have 8 confirmed Judges, and nominations coming in by numerous people. If you have not pm'd me back and said, "Yes count me in.," or something like that, you are not on the judges list. If anyone can think of other worthy judges let me know. I have heard from 3 potential judges with a "maybe," and another 2 with a, "no I don’t have time." I understand that and am fine. I still need to hear from about 14 more. If anyone would like to judge, ask me, I'll tell you "yea" or "nea," and some may want to nominate others for judges. BTW, the person nominated as a judge has to be a usawks message board member. Here is the current list, remember, judges will narrow these down to 3, and then will pick a winner in each category. If we don't receive more than 3 nominations in any category, we will go with the nominations we have. Also, you can nominate as much as you want for each category. I would like to nominate Gene Dill as The USAWKS Kids Coach of the Year he has been in this sport for over 30 years not only does he coach jr high in Missouri he has dedacated thousands of hours keeping the Olathe Wrestling Club on the map. He has been throu at least 3 cases of fraud in the club by members and he has always been there to bail us out and remind us all that we do this for the kids

Media of the year: Ken Badsky and Adam Kadavy of KFNF radio in Oberlin. All broadcasts on the web and they do a great job.
I would also agree that Luedke should be in the Collegiate Wrestler category.

Female wrestler of the year:
I couldn't tell you their exact records, but Samantha Gonzales(#103) and Regina Ward(#112) both of Lakin/Deerfield are doing well.
Gonzales has placed 3rd three times on varsity that I'm aware of: Hoxie, Ulysses, and Scott City.
Ward was 4th at Ulysses and 3rd at Scott City.
Someone else may know more about them, all I know is what I've read through Kramer's results.

Duane Zlatnik? (#285-Rossville)
Freshman HS Wrestler of the Year:
Colt Rogers? (#112-Smith Center) He's already beaten ranked opponents in Williamson(Mill Valley), Keiswetter(Norton), and Weigel(Plainville) that I know of. It's quite possible that he's met others that I'm not aware of including Ceman(Phillipsburg).
Media of the Year:
Smoky Hills Public Television - Bunker Hill, KS
What other TV station is airing ANY of the state tournaments LIVE? They've been airing the 3,2,1A quarters, semis, and consolation/championship matches LIVE for the past 3 years and will do it again this year. They've been airing the finals tape-delayed on Sunday for as long as I can remember... atleast back to the mid-80's.
Give me time, I'm sure I'll come up with more.

USAWKS HS Coaching Staff of the Year:
Smith Center
Coaches Hutchinson and Johnson got THEIR first state champion @ the 2006 state tournament in Travis Warner (#140). The also finished in the top three in the state for the first time in SCHOOL history! I know Coach Hutchinson was chosen coach of the year at his regional and if I'm not mistaken he won the KWCA 3,2,1a coach of the year award as well.

Officials should have Jim Beltch and Mike Furches for his F/S&Greco.
Most improved team should have Lawrence High on it. We went from nothing to placing 6th at state last year. 5 medalist aand because of that I would think that either Coach Mark Dulgarian or the LHS coaching staff should get a nomination
Also Paulie Hanson should get some consideration as wrestler of the year

Randi Beltz is from Missouri, not Kansas, isn't she? She is a great wrestler, but she I thought she wrestled with Kansas at Fargo because Missouri didn't send a team.

Also on Girls wrestler of the year I would like to nominate Danette Ohara from Columbus She has been a two year varsity High School starter and I think was one match fron qualifying for high school state. She also placed 6th at kids state in a tough bracket featuring Nathan Furches and Trent Cox.
