He is going to have a hard time finishing ahead of Lorson and Nill let alone Cotton.

Again to Kolmer fine job! Heckel vs. Kolmer will be a good technical match that will come down to conditioning and pure desire to win. I would like to think there would be a difference in the 215# bracket, and by no means taking anything away from the young men who are wrestling. This bracket is missing 3 that I know would of changed the outcome. Tyler Downs from Derby, James Sparks from Emporia, and Howard Johnson from Great Bend. Johnson, and Downs out with season ending injuries, Sparks I heard however will be back by 2/10. Any other brackets missing top ranked wrestlers that may of had different outcomes? I guess an undefeated wrestler from western ks doesn't deserve your respect. Joe Bach's not a returning state placer, but if you defeat everyone you have wrestled, AND SOME OF THEM ARE RETURNING STATE PLACERS, I would think that qualifies him some respect. the fact that all wrestlers don't compete from Great Bend east doesn't mean that they can't win against those guys. By the way, we visited with James and his Dad, and both confirmed his return, in time for a state run. With some luck, maybe Joe could make state run of his own, and you might admit that he possibly belonged in that championship match!!

He transferred from Goodland. There were two champions that wrestled for Goodland last year that are now at different schools. Cook at 171, now at Hays, and Bahe, at 130, now at Great Bend. Cook did not complete the season last year, and won't be on any state brackets.

Joe is a Junior. And yes I did get alittle hot under collar. In every tournament I have ever been to, even a state one or two, there are brackets that could be better, with an excellent wrestler or two missing for various reasons. However that doesn't mean that you detract from the ones competing. On any given day, even the best falter, thats why we wrestle the matches, instead of talking about who should'a-could'a, you prove it. And there, the final 2 who were there did just that!

It seems that when I made a comment about the 215# bracket that I may of incidently upset someone. This by no means was my intention, its not like I was saying that no one deserved respect, or that they only got their wins by beating old women, or drunk taxi cab drivers. I was just stating how I felt by knowing the caliber of wrestlers, the three boy's I mentioned are, and what they would bring, when on the mat. And as far as western Kansas not having top class wrestlers, I guess that you must of read something into my comment that did not exsist. Yes, Joe who is now what 32-0 does deserve attention, and respect. And I do wish him the best of luck going into regionals where Alex Whitehill, along with even Josh Cohen I think from Hutch will be. And I never once stated that he did not deserve to be in the finals. I was just making a comment that the 215# bracket was going to miss out on some top notch action with 3 highly ranked and talented wrestlers missing from action.

Rjohnson, I didn’t think your earlier post was pointed towards anyone. Your observation of the 215 bracket was correct. I think Bach looked excellent and is in the same class as the others you had mentioned and defiantly will be one to contend with at state this year. It would have been very exciting to have seen any of those 4 young men hook it up on the mat this last weekend. But injuries and other issues prevented some very good match-ups. I know talking to Sparks, he will return in a few weeks. I hope he can get up to speed and make another run at state. If I had to make a prediction to who would be in the finals this year at state. I probably wouldn’t have to go to far from names mentioned. I look forward to seeing it. Good luck to all & stay healthy!!!

I also overlooked the fact that Saul Landeros was also missing from the 215# bracket. I know head to head this year Bach won over him. Was just trying to make a point that if all the 215# kids would of been there, this by far may have been the most exciting bracket at the tournement this year. Joe I wish you the best of luck at state for you represent WAC which GB is also part of, and the power that this league brings to many sports, but that a whole different issue. My pre-predictions of state 215 5A / 1st-Whitehill 2nd-Bach 3rd-Sparks(only due to the long lay-off)4th-Curtis 5th-Hammer 6th-Bruce depending on whos on whos side of the bracket however these should be the top 6.

i'm not sure who is all out there at 215, so i might miss someone. I don't think Whitehill can beat Bach or Sparks. I think with Bruce moving up from 189, he is over powered and he has never been the technique wrestler. I do think it will be Bach or Sparks 1st with Whitehill 2nd or 3rd depending when Bach and Sparks meet up. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
