Why can't we do something like this for kids,I heard of some surrounding states doing this,it makes it fair for the kid who is actually that weight and gets rid of the parent trying to cut there kid 2 weight classes for state and stop some of the starving.

Unfortunately there is no easy answer. This would only promote more drastic cutting for that "pre-season weigh-in". Matside weigh ins are the only true answer.

I am a parent who's child totally does not cut weight!!! My son is 8 under and exactly 80 pounds. There is a weight division here but we wrestle him up to 88 pounds because we don't want him to be over. I know maybe I am too extreme the opposite way, I don't know. But I feel kids at such a young age should grow healthily! I totally want matside weigh ins!!!!! I know a lot of kids who have cut weight and now have eating disorders or who have permamtly stunnted thier growth!

Have a scale at the mat, depending on the tournament weigh in there. Some allow a 2 pound allowance after the first weigh in, some weigh in before every match, some have random weigh ins after the first weigh in. It prevents a kid from makig weight, gorging, and especially helps with the night before weigh ins. Usually the argument is not enough scales, some states that do this require the participating clubs to bring a certifed scale to eliminate this problem. Oters will have one or two scales at the head table, the wrestler reports to the head table before going matside.

I was thinking more of if a kid weighs about 70 lbs early season make a rule that he cant be below that the rest of the season,It would be very difficult for him/her to get back to that at seasons end or do some type of body fat ratio.

No way! I see a lot of kids who just start dropping the pounds naturaly after the season starts! Less Playstation and more exercise. Especially the kids who are overweight and have the weight to lose. My son is an example he starts the practice season about 8-12 lbs over his healthy weight and within a couple of months due to pure hard work he is about where he should be. Of course he does reach a plateau and his weight does eventualy flatten out. I am for matside weigh ins at each tourney!

I think most kids will gain muscle mass, replacing the non-muscle weight(ie. fat) that will be lost. Muscle weighs more than fat. So, for most, it should even out. I do think some kids will appear thinner as they become toned during season.
