Thank you Ottawa. well run tournament, good wrestling, good concessions, good hospitality room & best of all got out of there by 3:00; not bad for a 700 wrestler tournament; will definately be back next year. As a side note, the only thing I did not like was the Ref on Mat 7; for the first time in my son's short history of wrestling I was scared every time he stepped on the mat, not because of his opponents, but due to the erratic calls by the ref. anyone else observe this? This is not sour grapes, my son won his bracket; but there we several wrestlers who were on either side of some questionable calls to say the least.

I also thought this was a great tourney!! I didn't see the ref on seven but the ref on six was awesome! One of the best I have seen all year! Nice set up! With two gyms side by side! Great Concessions! Cotton candy machine, coffee stand, etc! I will definately be back next year and I encourage everyone else to attend also!

I think the ref on mat 11 was really inconsistent with his calls. Several of the parents were upset with the calls he made all day. He has had compalints at other tournments as well. I am talking about the younger one ref.
However the tournamnet was GREAT and was well ran.

Thank you Patrick my son was one of the victims of this ref. The two second rule is there to give the wrestler a chance to react. these kids work way to hard for someone to take that away from them. Not to say my son would have won but you got to give him a chance. now for the good stuff vary nice tourney will be back next year.

It was a great day. PLEASE no Cotton Candy next year there too many kids to have running around with a sugar rush and this is not the kind of energy needed on the mat. Sugar highs and bleachers don't mix.
Tator T. Got to get up and go to make the final show!

The soup's in the coaches room were great. Potato #1.
The 5 hour wait between bouts was a little much on Mat9.

Patrick and I are from the same club and I totally agree. Very well run. My son and I were out by 2:00, for 700+ kids that was incredible. I also must agree with him on the mat 7 ref. It would not have made a difference but my son was not awarded points more than once. Also Patrick's son who is 10&U had to wrestle 2 minute periods his first match. Those two boys were totally spent at the end of that match. But overall awsome tournatment, Great experiance.

I hope all of the kids that got injured weren't hurt very badly! I Hate to see that happen anytime, but especially at the end of the season!!! Stay healthy.

I totally agree about the ref on mat 7. My son was on this mat and I was totally shocked at this refs calls.

I was planning on posting the results and had good intention but when the parents or the kids take the bracket from the table it makes it impossible to do...sorry guys!!! Will keep better tabs on my paperwork next yr.!!! Glad you all feel it was a success, lots of hard work and I think I need a vacation after we do this again twice in one weekend in just 3 short weeks!!! Thanks for your support! Renee'

Shoulders have to be down 2 sec. to call a pin.

Ahh ok.
Well two seconds isn't really a long time.
In fact it will take you longer to read this post than it takes to pin an opponent.

Clearly, some can say, One Mississippi - Two Mississippi, quicker than others!
Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?

We had the same situation earlier in another tournament, where the ref called my son pinned on a roll through, and the ref was standing over the boys. No effort was made to get down to see the shoulders, he just called it that quickly. I made a point to speak to the ref, but was told it was a pin. This was in an open side of a novice/open tournament. I clearly know this rule and really would have made more of a fuss, but it would not have changed the match much overall and I don't like to see coaches get into the ref., although in a case where you are right...
