Just wondering what your thoughts on the Hays tourney are. We're thinking of going there next year and wondered how district 1, 2 and 3 people thought about:
1. The competition and how it compares to the classic. 2. The facility 3. Lodging 4. Anything else that I might like to know
Thanks

Hays had great facilities...plenty of seating, restrooms (that were clean and well stocked w/ supplies.) Able to see all the mats from any location you were seated in. Plenty of affordable lodging. Can't compare to the Classic, since I have never been, but was very impressed w/ this well run tournament. GREAT competition in all age divisions. Easy to get awards after bracket was completed. Overall rating of Hays tournament A+++.

Does Hays have a parade and break before the finals? We will go to the tournament without the break. The break at Wichita was from 4:00/4:30 for most brackets to almost 6:45 before wrestling started again. I am not willing to wait that long for a weekend tournament again. Great competition, probably the best in the state, just too long of a day.

I agree with the above entry, our club was done wrestling at 3:30. The line up was not until 5:30 and the finals rounds were not started until sometime around 6:45. For some of our younger kids, that was anywhere from 3-4 hrs wait to wrestle their final match! I've heard alot of GOOD things about the Hays tournament. Good competition, clean facility, nicely ran. The only thing I've heard negative about the Hays tournament was the concession lines were too long.

after state is over it will be easy to see which tournament had the best competition. by looking at the placings and other results such as tulsa and joc you would have to say the better competition was at wichita.

There was great competition at Wichita. We have never been to Hays so can't make any comments about it, but Wichita is a great tournament bringing the top of the line competition-wise (both in-state and out-of-state). Wichita is a tournament that our kids look forward to every year. If they are old enough, let them decide. They are the ones wrestling.

Hays is a great tournament. We have not personally been to Park City, but we have some club members that go and they say the tournament is great also. Hays does not have a break for finals. They have great competition. There were several state qualifiers from last year in my son's bracket.

I on the other hand have not been to Hays, however we have been to lots of other big tourneys(Salina, Tulsa Nationals ect.)!My son loved Tulsa but, Wichita is definately one of our favorites. The break leading in to the finals is definately my son's favorite part! The introduction of the finalists and the light show is fun for him. The break gives him a little while to prepare mentally and rest up before finals! In Salina there was no light show and my son only had ten matches before the final match! It is all what is important to you personally! To us it is not as much about seating and being in a horsebarn as good competition and my son having fun! I probably will not be going to Hays anytime soon! Not because there is anything wrong with Hays but we have always went to Wichita and why fix something that aint broke!:)
