What was the all around toughest weight this year?
Wrestlers, please keep in mind that it is common for you to mention your own bracket as the toughest, but please try to be reasonable.

i dont know if you mean overall weight all through the state or toughest weight in a specific class or whatever...but a couple things i would say... 5A 189 had 3 flat out studs. i dont know if there was another bracket in a state tournament this year with 3 kids better then mamie, evans, and elliot.
i thought 135 was tough across the board. isenberg, henes, almaguer, price, fisher, napier, etc. these kids were all though. unfortuantly we didnt get to see a fisher-almaguer matchup in state, i think it would have been a great match.

I'm saying toughest state bracket out of all classes... 321A, 4A, 5A, 6A. Or to not single things out so much toughest weight in each class might be a better question?

321A I thought 112 and 152 stood out alittle more
4A I thought 145 and 152 was also very tough
5A I'd have to agree with 189
6A I'd say 125 or 130
& overall I think 4A and 5A came pretty close to having most of the best kids and best matches.

What about 5A 215? But yes, I would agree 5A 189 was the hardest, :p

There is no comparison to 135 in all classes. Isenberg, Napier, Henes, Schridde, Crank, Swoyer, Mosley, Price and Fisher. Much tougher and deeper than 189.

5a- 215 had some good kids but Bach just pulverized the competition so you cant really say it is the toughtest because one guy was bounds and leaps ahead of the others. 189 had those 3 b.a.'s but it had a substantial drop off after those 3. 135 was solid the whole way through. No single guy stood out any of the top 4 guys coulda won that bracket. If you wrestle 135 again you will prolly have a different champion.

o i agree all classes 135 was much deeper and tougher then 189. i'm just saying i dont know if any bracket had 3 guys that tough at the top as 189. but across the board 135 was pretty stacked.

I'll go 135 too, but I wouldn't be so sure about the turnout at the end. Aldon beat the 6a state champ and went 2-1 with Henes (5a runner up). I'll go to bat that he would win out at 5 and 6a. I didn't see the 1-4a kids, so can't speak to that. However, if he wrestled up to his potential, I'd pick him across the board.

The top 3 at 189 still don't measure up to 135. I would also argue that the 5A 135 semis had the toughest 4 kids in any bracket. Isenberg, Crank, Henes and Schridde. Isenberg - 34-1 - State Champion - 2005 Fargo All-American Napier - 35-3 - State Champion - 2006 Fargo National Champion Moseley - 106-8 in last 3 years - 2005 State Champion

i meant 5A 189 compared to any of the specific classes in 135. and i would contend that elliot, evans and mamie is a tougher top three bracket then isenberg, henes and crank, though probably not by much. if we had a grand state 135 would be stacked. especially if fisher wouldnt have been DQed, he would have gotten at least 3rd in 6A.
you put together a bracket with isenberg, henes, crank, schriddle, almaguer, price, fisher, napier, moseley etc. you have a lot of damn good wrestlers. i'll take my chances with isenberg though, i mean, not saying he COULDN'T lose on a given day but i think hes easily the favorite.

I am not saying you wouldn't win it again I am just saying it could very well be a different outcome if it were wrestled again. Schridde lost to Fisher 9-2 at Garden City and then came back and beat him 4-2 at Goddard. It is very difficult to beat a good kid twice. Also Crank lost to Schridde in the finals at regionals and came back to beat him for 3rd at state. I am also not saying no one in the top four at 135 where good because they are all very very good wrestlers I am just saying that they are all good enough to win state on any given day.

i believe almaguer shut out crank 3-0,shut out henes 1-0,shut out napier 5-0,beat price 10-7, shut out a healthy tanner johnson 12-0,also shut out by tech fall at salina 15-0 4th place finisher from manhatten tucker adams, beat a good wrestler from blue springs josh howk in finals at osawatomie....was beating isenberg 5-0 first period before falling in double overtime ...looks like a few quality opponents for almaguer??? other then the first period wrestled cory carr from park hill very tough...isenberg moves up to 140lb and beats 2x state champ from bishop carroll dang that isenberg:)

I can't believe Almauger was left off the list. The 135 plot thickens. Too bad Linwood Peoples wasn't at State.
