Okay. I am tired of football and discussing where State should be. Just to get the juices going how about this: If each classification could form a team consisting only of wrestlers from that classification and then had a dual tourament with the other classifications who would win?

I would like to see who won your matches. I think I would have found a place for Joe Bach at 215.

I was just going on what they weighed last year. If we could move them around in weight (keeping it realisitic) I think I would have Elliott down to 171. Wouldn't that be a great lineup?

Perhaps the Koehn's were in 4A in Chief's roster ... but they make an impact in whatever classification they are in!

With Tyler Koehn in 5A, he would obviously be the 160 pounder. Elliott and Bach would make 5A MUCH tougher at 171 and 215. I was thinking that they would be 215 and 285 this year. When you move McCormick, Tanenbaum and Caldwell up, you have to try and guess 07-08 weights. With Koehn now in the line-up, the score might be more like 28-18.
I adjusted the rosters and added match predictions. (As close as the teams are, half of the matches could go the other way!)

Just curious, but did 5A get a team point taken away for un-sportsmanship during the 140 match? I see Isenberg only got 2 points for his win over Fisher.

I think Joe Bach is planning on wrestling 215 this year. He will have to drop some, from football weight. That usually isn't too hard, as you wrestlers know.

Can we send Joe some diet food? Anything to get him to 215! I heard his name on the radio Friday night for scoring a touchdown. Also saw where Jake Tannenbaum had over 200 yards on Friday.

Chief, great topic for debate. Certainly Keller Furches is a toss up since they split last year but Tanenbaum beat Graham last year and thus that would be a 6 point swing back to 6A.

Barry, since when do 125lb wrestlers run for 200 yards? Sports > High School > High School Football Sunday, Oct 7, 2007 High School Football Posted on Fri, Oct. 05, 2007 10:15 PMreprint or license print email Digg it del.icio.us AIM Blue Valley North bounces Bishop Miege By DEAN BACKES Special to The Star Blue Valley North coach Jason Jones had a lot of confidence in his offensive line and running back Jake Tanenbaum in Friday’s 27-7 homecoming win over Bishop Miege at the Blue Valley Activities Complex.
Jones displayed his faith in the fourth quarter. With his team ahead 14-7 and facing fourth and 2 from its 29 with 5 minutes left, Jones made the call.
“He just told us we were going for it and we didn’t question it,” an ecstatic Tanenbaum said. “We just went out there, and it paid off.”
Tanenbaum, who ran for 211 yards in 40 carries, forged ahead for 3 yards and got the first down. On the next play he cut back to the middle of the field and raced 68 yards untouched to the end zone, putting his team up 21-7 with 4:23 left in the game.
“My line and my fullback did a great job blocking to the outside, and I saw the cutback,” Tanenbaum said of the momentum-boosting play. “I made sure I held on to the ball and ran as fast as I could.”
Tanenbaum, who scored all four Mustang touchdowns, put the finishing touches on the Stags on Blue Valley North’s next possession. After a Stag fake punt, which came up short at the Miege 31, Tanenbaum ran the ball four times for all 31 yards.
The touchdown came on a 15-yard scamper with 2:05 left. The Stags opened the scoring in the second quarter by going on a 14-play, 98-yard drive that ate up 6 minutes.
Miege quarterback Brett McConniff hit Alex Cecena with a strike that covered the final 4 yards of the drive with just more than 10 minutes left in the second quarter.
The Mustangs tried to answer on their next possession by going on an 18-play drive. But the bid came up short when Miege’s Joseph Schultz intercepted a Matthew Reed pass at the Stag 5 with 51 seconds left in the half.
The Mustangs tied the score at 7-7 on their opening drive of the second half.
Tanenbaum ran the ball five straight times, moving the ball from Blue Valley North’s 45 to the Stag 37. Then Reed hit Chris Johnson down the left sideline for a 32-yard gain to the Stag 5.
Two plays later, Tanenbaum scored from 3 yards away.

Eric: If you thought Elliott was going up to 215 and Bach up to 285, why did you not have Elliott as the 215 wrestler? It wouldn't surprise me to see both Elliott and Bach as 5A state champions this year. Of course this is all guessing at this point because of where people might end up in weights and possible unexpected first time champions. It would be interesting to do it again after the State tournaments. Why don't you do a mock dual of 5A and 6A from last year's 2007 state tournament winners since we know the actual weights and winners?

I think a 5A coach would find a way to include last year's 215 state champion Joe Bach into the lineup. A 5A coach would have also found a way to include two time undefeated state champion and one time finalist Elliott into the lineup. A 5A coach would also find a way to find a spot for last year's state champion at 103 Tyler Stokes by perhaps moving the Keller twins up a weight.
It is just a little difficult to believe that you would have a preseason All Star 5A team without Stokes, Elliott and Bach in the lineup somewhere. That is a lot of former state champions left off the lineup without them in it. Personally I would like to see Henes in there somewhere too.

That is a lot of former state champions left off the lineup without them in it. Personally I would like to see Henes in there somewhere too. If Elliott is at 215, he would definitely be starting. I would have to give him the edge over the upcoming star of Wichita NW. That 112 weight is loaded to say the least. You could wrestle Keller, Stokes or Wood and go to the wire with Furches. Moving the Keller's up to make room for Stokes makes sense. As close as it would be, I still think 6A gets the win at that weight. Now Bach is a tough one to leave off. I have heard that he's bulked up a bit. I would imagine that Joe has a future in D-1 at HWT. If he wants to wrestle at the next level, pulling to 215 may not be the best move. I personally would love to see a Bach/Disney final. If Joe and Elliott end up at 215, that would also be an interesting clash if Scott could handle that much weight.
