First off I would like to thank all the clubs that dared the weather to participate in our tournament. I also want to thank Will Cokeley for all that he did with the trackwresting software. If you need some advice on how to use it for your tournament he would be the person for you to ask. I know that we had some problems using the prgram but i honestly think that it was totally our mistakes we did using it. Even with the some small errors on our part, we still started on time and were out pretty early, just as if we had run the tournament the old fashioned way. The magic part is that if you have ever ran a tournament you would know all the hours there are just getting the wrestlers on the brackets and bout sheet. With this software we never had one person write out a single bout sheet, other than the add on wrestlers that were added today, as well as the table brackets. "WHAT A SAVER" I am asking for the ones that went to our tournament to email me any errors that they noticed so we can fix those problems. Another magic thing is that if you were to go to trackwrestling .com you can already see the results of this tounament. But not only that you can see round by round results. Hey you can also see how your team did against all the teams in the tournament. I could go on and on about what this does so as an old timer I am sold that it will work. My e-mail is tuff-dee@grapevine.net so if you would let me know of any areas that need to be addressed send it to me. Once againg thanks to all that came and hope you all made it home safe.

Thanks Tuff Paola Wrestling Club

Coaches Hospitality - BCS (breakfast championship series) & the LCS(lunch championship series) have Paola ranked #1 in the early polls. The breakfast started off with a bang ranking 10 out of ten beacuse meatballs were served with biscuits and gravy, cookies and donuts. Meat is a very key component in the BCS & LCS rating system. Lunch got a ten also with meat balls, sloppy joes, chili, donuts, cookies. Meatball sauce on a chocolate chip cookies is a new combination that everybody should try. Good job at the tournament guys.

December Polls

Paola - BCS #1
Paola - LCS #1

Our wrestlers really enjoyed this tournament, had some really great matches and it was very well run. I also would like to thank Will and Tuff for giving me the opportunity to learn the new system. It will come in handy for our tournament in Feb.

Smokey Cabin, I didn't get to try the Coaches Hospitality, but Gunner is still full!

AS usual a well ran tournament. We had a great time. My only question was about combining of brackets under this new system? in 8 Under 61,64 and 67 there were 8 different brackets for these weights and 34 Wrestlers. I was wondering what criteria the program uses to assemble and combine brackets. I guess it just seemed random ????? Or it could be because I for one fear change. But its worth it to have info readily availible as it has been such as Entries, Brackets and such.

I had such a good day! Not only did my boys both have good days, but I learned something usefull- how to keep score! We had a few problems at the 6 and under table, but I don't think I've ever been to a tournament that has had NO problems! Thanks to all the coaches, parents, and refs!

I am not in favor of the way that the brackets combined weights! Is there a way to change this. I mean there is a difference between a kid who only weighs 47 lbs wrestling up to 49 who has to wrestle a 52 lber. I do think however that the system is really neat and I am in favor of using it. I just didn't like the combonation of weights. Great tourney!!!

The system is not to blame for the combining. I am to blame for that. I wanted to give as many of the 6,8, and 10 kids a guaranteed four matches so I used five man round robins. I grouped based on capability and seperated clubs where possible. USA wrestling has five pound breaks in their weights so I don't really feel it is "unfair" to group brackets that are seperated by only three pounds. Keep it in perspective, these are early season warm up tournaments to give our wrestlers experience. When it comes time to compete for the state championship there will be no combining. Kansas creates more opportuniities by having more weight classes and I like that for the state tournament but I think the priority at this stage of the season should be to give as many matches to kids as possible. EXPERIENCE is priceless!

I appreciate the feedback and I am not about to say that I am perfect, just trying to keep kids from only getting two matches and then going home.

Thanks to all who attended the tournament!!

Jake got to wrestle a great match against a quality kid by combining the weights. We will probably not wrestle the young man again this year, but it was a great experience. We loss the match but learned alot.

Thanks

Now that I know what happeded I understand. I was certainly not complaining about my kid wrestling up a little I just thought it may be a glitch! I too travel far and wide in order for my kids to get good mat time on Saturday! I do not think it is all about the medal but, a great practice for later! I loved the fact that they were round robbin in order to get a few extra matches. Thanks!:)
