Austin DeVoe, a 3X state champion for Columbus High School before going on to a stellar wrestling career at the University of Missouri, is currently in his second year as an assistant coach at the University of Northern Colorado. The Silver Lake Inv is looking for 1 or 2 tough teams for next year on the first Saturday of FEB. Olathe Northwest is planning to host a dual tournament next year on December 13th 2008. We hope to have 10 teams compete.

Abilene H.S. and Manhattan H.S. are hosting a Dual Tournament on Dec. 13th, 2008. Teams already committed, Abilene, Manhattan, Shawnee Heights, Smith Center.
We are looking for 2 more for the first year, Guaranteed 5 matches(Duals)in 1 day for 3 competition points.
This will be a "Dual Host" tournament and will be held in Abilene on even years and Manhattan on odd years.
We will also consider contracts for 4 more teams for 2009.

Ray-Pec High School in Missouri starting next year is hosting the "Border War Duals" which features five teams for each state; Missouri and Kansas. Each team will wrestle five duals against all of the opposing state's teams with the state winning the most duals being declared the winner of the tournament (25duals). Each team from the winning state receives a traveling plaque that they must bring back the following year to defend. The tournament is the second weekend in December next year being on the 13th. We have all ten teams committed for next year but would like to know if more teams are interested to either expand this tournament or for teams that may not come back. Next years tournament features the following teams: from Kansas; Olathe South, Olathe East, Olathe North, Blue Valley West and Leavenworth and from Missouri; Ray-Pec, Kearney, Park Hill, Platte County and Lee's Summit West.

The tournament is currently only consisting of the Metro Area teams but we would like it to include teams from all parts of the state.

Anderson County has openings for 2-3 teams in their tournament. This will be held on Dec. 13 this year. We have 9 other teams in the tournament and also will allow J.V. wrestlers in as long as it does not go past a 16 man bracket. Please contact either John Hancock at hancock@usd365.org or the A.D. The Leavenworth Challenger is looking for 1 more team for next year on the first Saturday of December. Current teams competing are St. Thomas Aquinas, Olathe East, Shawnee Mission North, Ray-Pec (MO), Excelsior Springs (MO), Manhattan, Lawrence, Blue Valley North, Topeka High, and Olathe South.

The tournament is a round robin with an A pool/B pool format. Try to get every wrestler 5 matches. Medals awarded to top 2 placers in each pool.

Salina South would like one more team for our cross-pool format tournament scheduled for January 10, 2009. We have plenty of room in our gym, wrestle on 3 mats all day long and traditionally begin the finals round by 4:30. With full weights, all kids will get 4 matches and top 6 placers will get 5.
