I think that Keegan Smith from Goodland 11th should be ranked above Garret Zweygardt from colby because head to head Keegan has beat Garret twice so far this year.

Just a question...I have noticed that Holton is unranked in the 4a rankings and none of their wrestlers are ranked individually.
Just wondering....

Holton has not contributed any money to the Kit Harris Child Relief Fund.

Hilly has been beaten twice i believe. He will more than likely see the Garden Plain kid again this weekend, who pinned him on 1-27-08. Doxon,s only lost was to Atticus Disney at Hays tournament in the finals. The rest of the group I do not know about. Brown has been beaten several times.

I'm pretty sure that was intended as a joke. I'm sure lot's of the ranked kids haven't contributed either.

Oh...I took it as a joke. Still wondering about the rankings...are the hs coaches in charge of turning in information on their team / individuals? Or does someone do the research on line and put the rankings together?

I have no idea how this is done. Would seem to me to be a lot of work for one person to compare everyones records, then look and see if their losses were to ranked wrestlers or not, then to objectively rank them. I certainly appreciate the work they put in but have no idea what criteria determines who's ranked where and where the info comes from. Generally speaking 1st and 2nd are probably the easiest I'd think. Gets a little murky when kids have similar records which generally is what happens as you get below 1 and 2.

I agree that it would be a huge job for one person to rank everyone with out being given the information on all 4a wrestlers and teams. I would just like to know how they get the information to rank a team or individual? If they do so w/out the coach or HS submitting the information then they do a great job w/the resources that are at hand. I have a son that wrestles for Holton and a nephew that was a State placer last year...and he has beat atleast one of the kids ranked in his weight class. So I am just curious as to how this is done.
Thanks for the in advance for the information.

The rankings are a result of feedback and the posting of results from many sources. Coaches, parents, wrestlers and fans provide insight into the ranking process. I can tell you that the All-Class ranking is not an easy task and I applaud the individual class rankers for the hard volunteer work that they do! This forum is a fantastic source of information. Brett Kramer's site is the glue that keeps it all together and even RDS provides a great service with results from the Wichita area. I can tell you that Kansas can be proud of this web site. I believe it's in the top 10% of all State wrestling sites. The information is only as good as the input, so I encourage every Kansas wrestling fan to KEEP POSTING RESULTS!

up4wrestling : in your case, I am sure that Kit would appreciate it if you sent him a personal message telling who that wrestler is and who he has beat. I am sure that it is not easy to do these rankings. All the help someone can give will surely be appreciated.

I will say if you would post the won-lost record of the kids insted of who you think would beat the other you might find that a lot of kids that are ranked low have a better record than the first or secord place kids do. to prove a point is 12 and 1 a better record than 26 and two? Well I think when all is said and done you will find some diffent faces in the top six at state than you have in the rankings now. I think that when you have not wrestled more than 15 matches its a little unfair to rank them

Unless you rank a kid like Boaz Beard who just wrestled his first tournament of the year and beat Tyler Koehn soundly. The issue is "who" you have wrestled, not so much the record.

Win loss should not even be considered.

I totally agree! Win/Lose is a great tool but many times, it is a bit deceiving. It is WHO you have wrestled that matters...not how many times you win. There are JV wrestlers with great records. And besides, being ranked in the top 6 is wonderful, but it still doesn't automatically guarantee a spot on the podium come state tournament time.
