Doxon is 28-1. His only loss is to Disney at the Hays Tourney.

Doxon is 29-1. Doxon and Hilly have wrestled the last two years at Regionals, Doxon has never lost to Hilly.Doxon has won the Regional those two years.

Courtney Strauss from Abilene needs some thought at 119. Tonight he only got beat 14-13 to Tyler Anderson. Courtney wrestled a great match and took Tyler to his back several times. Courtney, a freshman, has improved a lot and could cause some havoc at the state tournament.

So tell me again why Hilley would be ranked above him? Hilley has two losses, one to a 321A wrestler. Just wondering because in the overall rankings for all classes, Doxon is ranked above Hilley.

Probably because Hilley placed higher than Doxon at the state tournament. Also, Hilley has wins over 3 of those other ranked oponents with 2 of them being pins I believe.

When I first put together rankings, I think I went off of last year's state tourney (Hilley placed 4th, Doxon went 1-2). But to be honest, I have no idea who is better. How about the change I made above? That work?
If you want to know the truth, I put a lot less thought and effort into the rankings as it probably looks. I mainly just see it as a list of who are some of the top guys and for something for the media to use to promote their local wrestlers, etc. I usually don't really know who is better than another. The state tourney works it all out, and hopefully many wrestlers can prove the rankings wrong.
Let me know of any more info to help make the rankings more accurate.
Good luck to all as we near the home stretch!

I agree 100% with your rankings. Hilly did place higher than Doxon at state last year. Keep up the good work!

I like the change. They will probably tie at the state meet, so that seems most logical. I am not sure what made you think that ranking the highest placing returning heavyweight from last year was the wise move, i was the one that probably did that initially and now you get all the flack (awesome.) How long have you been doing this? And they haven't wrestled each other? Hmmmm...that means you would have to subjectively move Doxon over Hilley based on mostly annonymous posts. Come on Kit! Quit spending time teaching, coaching & parenting and put 100% into these rankings. You can do it. If you ever want to travel to Goodland some weekend to do some scouting let me know. We can stop off at Taco Shop in Hays on the way out there. Then we'll swing down through Clearwater on our way home. Wait, we better hit Royal Valley and check out that Iowa move-in, there's a casino nearby so that will work. Oh wait, I forgot that there is a tournamnet at the end of the year that sets the final rankings. Nevermind.

I suppose I could tape a match of his for you, but I believe we decided that would be against the rules?

What is that awesome pizza/Italian place in Hays?!! It was the best Thursday night dinner (delivery) at the hotel (for the coaches, parents and managers, anyway).
You just kinda wasted my precious time But don't think twice, it's all right Bob Dylan, 1963

It would be either Greek's Pizzaria or Lomato's Pizza. Both are great!

Taco Shop is THE place to eat when you go to FHSU. It is located close to campus and easily within walking distance between the dorms and those nice establishments like Golden Q and The Home.

I spent thousands on Taco Shop (dine in, carry out, and delivery) during my four years at Ft. Hays, but lets be honest with everyone. It is about as far from authentic Mexican as one can get! You have to remember that food that tastes good at midnight after ten or more beers isn't that great when you are totally sober.

"nice establishments" you must have been hitting the Jenkem in Hays if those qualify as nice. One thing I could always count on when I went into the Home and I bet it is still true today, the song "Tootsie Roll" will be playing.
