Thought Mike Allen retired? Am surprised Kessell is back.

The 5 at the Big XII tourney yesterday should be banned. Frisch has been terrible forever. Kenny Ritchie, who is usually an excellent official, was well below standard. Having never seen the other 3 work, dont know if it was off day, or if they are graduates of the Dave Frisch school of screwing up good wrestling matches by trying to be the star.
you know it is bad when OSU people thought even the OU wrestlers were getting raw deal1

The problem is the fraternization of the officials and the refusal of the side official to discuss his observation(s) with the head official DURING the match.
I did observe Ritchie having several conversations with Frish immediately after a match, and from facial expressions it did not appear the two agreed on Frish's performance.
The worst call was the failure to award the backpoints in the consolation finals match between McSpadden and Oliver.
The entire arena witnessed the waiving of the arm counting the back points, and then a non award. Fortunately, the match outcome was not determined by the poor officiating.
It is unfortunate Jimmy Ramirez was not working the tournament. Im my opinion, Jimmy always brings his A game and forces the other officials to improve.
Jimmy may be a bit quick to warn for stalling and award stalling points however every wrestlter knows how Jimmy calls the match and he is consistent with his calls.

watching ramirez work the big ten finals, doing an excellent job as usual. cant speak for him but i'd rather work the big tens over the big12. how about brands' tennis shoes with the tie! metcalf would beat them all from 74 on down. what a motor, that is iowa wrestling at its best.

I like Ramirez, and how he calls a match. Nothing wrong with quick stalling call if not working. As long as it is consistently applied, not only within a match but from one to another, that is something wrestlers and coaches can work with.
That is where Frisch, Mike Allen, Chuck Yagla, etc irritated so many coaches, fans and wrestlers through the years.
And Mr. Salyer, I agree with you about the mat judge-what is the purpose if not going to speak up, and referee is not going to listen? I think that type of situation had a lot to do with Kenny not working his normal type of match.
