Just wondering what to expect Sun. I know what time weigh ins are and I am glad my son is in the first bracket. We are coming from Junction City and was wondering if I should expect to be there until very late Sun evening and if I should look for a room close...I am sure I am a little late trying to get a room in Ottawa. Any input will be appreciated.

It will be our first time there as well. I did manage to book a room for Saturday at about 6:00 last night. I'm pretty sure it was the Travelodge. I haven't heard how late it runs, but I did hear that it is a very packed place. Good luck on the hotel room and also to your little one on the tournament.

it may run late but if your there that late that means your little guy has wrestled his butt off to get the chance to be there that late. we went 3-2 last year and left around 5:00 I think. great tournament for the youngsters.

glad to hear it bockman, and congrats to your little one for last year. i hope mine can make me be there as late as it takes. you're right, the longer you are there, the harder the kiddo is working. that's what it's all about.

it is still daylight when the finals are over. They do a good job at moving things along. With the other gym that migtbe used this year i think it could move even faster. Ottawa does a good job of starting on time and moving thru the tourny.

We will have two gyms this year, as we have talked and thought this out with many of you. I think this will really make things go faster, and spread out the people more as well. We will have the parade of champions and finals in the one gym along with the podium. We here in the Ottawa community look forward to seeing the very best six and under wrestlers in the state of Kansas competing for the titles they have worked for all season. Good luck to all our wrestling future. It all starts with our states youngest! I had also talked to Eric Aiken at a high school regional this season; he had said he would be here for an autograph table and to visit.

Quick question, will the participants and/or brackets be posted prior to the tourney for 6U State at Ottawa? Is track wrestling being used? Thanks

brackets will not be posted...kind of difficult to post a 64-man bracket and we are NOT using track wrestling.

I understand the complexity of doing the 64 man bracket. I was more interested to see who was going to be there from around the state. Can you post the entrants like many other tourneys do? When this is done it normally catches some mistakes earlier rather than on tournament day.

It is a good time with lots of wrestling . . . it is our third year out there and we are hoping to be at the top of the podium this year and not second like we have been for the past two years. It is alot of people but the best is seeing the kids with the big smiles at the end of the day!! Last year, my child was in a 64 man bracket with approx. 55 kids in it. Kids get the opportunity for tons of mat time!! See you in Ottawa!!

lots of people that hopefully the tournament directors will make stay off the mats during wrestling. the kids need the mats on the sides to warm up on, not the parents to be sitting on doing nothing. thats why they make bleachers and if you cant find a bleacher then stand outside but leave the mats for the kids working their butts off for you to enjoy.
