I was curious what folks thoughts were on what age would be good for kids to start freestyle/greco? My son just finished his second year of folkstyle and wants to wrestle more. Will this help with Folkstyle and is 6 to early to start? thanks from a dad new to the sport.
It is often said ... wrestling is wrestling! But there are still some fundamental differences in the styles! Some 6-year olds are not ready for these differences.
Not knowing what part of the State you are from, I would say, if you have good instruction and good practice partners, then go for it!!

my son is 7 and just finished his 3rd yr of folkstyle. he is doing freestyle this yr and has had 2 practices so far. it is a bit confusing for him with the moves that have him rolling thru his back and locking hands so much. still undecided if it will cause confusion for him trying to do things that he has been told not to do for the last 3 three yrs. we will be playing it by ear, hope he can pick it up and gain some useful techniques from it. guess we will see.
