I wish all regional sites would use the program that Abilene and Caney use to publish the tourney for those of us that are unable to attend. It should be a requirement in able to host a tourney. I realize it's alot of work that takes time and dedication not to mention the volunteers required but it seems to be a worthwhile trade off for the benifits (hotels, meals, concessions, gate, etc, ) Anybody's thoughts on this ???

Most regionals are using this program they haven't been updated/loaded yet. I know our Regional (Spring Hill) is using it and they said it will be updated online.

Great post. I agree with greyeagle. That would make all the regionals uniform and would be fantastic for fan support! Let's encourage all regional directors to get their brackets on the KWCA web site!

Seeding for Ulysses is tonight at 5:30, so I would think tomorrow AM sometime.

Why is the seeding meeting on Thursday night? On a different thread they are talking about the possibility of cutting sports because of the costs involved. Wichita Independent will have to travel to Ulysses for a seeding meeting that could just as easily be held on Friday morning. Will they take their entire team down Thursday night? Will the coach drive down on Thursday and return Thursday night only to turn around and drive back down with his team on Friday? If he does not take his team down Thursday he will be forced to miss practicing with them on Thursday. These are issues which will become more and more important with school districts in light of our current economy.

I would like to see seeting meeting become via the internet very shortly along with All- League Political stuff
I would not want to travel forever just to seed wrestlers- go off the percentage and good luck to everyone

It's very simple: 3-2-1A and 4A should not be allowed to have their seeding meeting until Friday morning since they don't start wrestling until Friday afternoon. Thus, the teams that travel only have to pay for one night's hotel stay. 5A and 6A could continue to have their seeding meeting on Friday night because wrestling starts Saturday morning. Teams that travel to 6A and 5A arrive on Friday night and are already there.

Just bragging here, so go on if you don't want to "listen' to it;
but. . .
I think the 1995 Norton Regional may have been the first (in "modern times", anyway) to seed on the Friday morning. I was the tournament manager and decided to do it that way so (1) coaches did not have to miss a practice (remember our region covers a big territory) and (2) I wanted the programs being sold to the fans to be 100% accurate. This was in the day before computer programs were widely available and we had a lady type up the brackets as they were seeded and then taken to the office to be run off.
There was some opposition when we announced the plan--won't have enough time, will have to send the coach ahead of the team, etc. etc. We did end up having a protracted discussion and stalemate at 189--who was #1; Dennis of Oakley or Boyle of Norton? But the meeting was still over more than an hour before we started wrestling.
In my opinion, seeding on the Friday for the two day tournaments is the only way it should happen.

Egg, you're exactly right!! I believe the tournament host should do what's best for the teams attending, not what's best for them. I remember having to drive two hours to a seeding meeting after a shortened practice, and then turn around and drive back home, getting home late, and then have to get up and teach the next day. This cost extra money for the school, took time away from my family on a school night, and wasn't exactly the safest to drive home tired after a full day of teaching and coaching. When you seed earlier in the week there are always changes in brackets anyway.

I think the simplest solution would be a phone conference. If that many coaches don't want to do it Thursday night in person, then do it Thursday night via phone. Then there will be no travel cost or anything. I don't think this is the biggest deal in the world though. There are other more important things that need to be fixed. Also keep in mind many coaches would rather have their team stay the night before when they travel long distances. Then they don't have to worry about the long trip effecting their guys and the team is fresh the next day.

4A is way ahead of everybody on posting brackets! There is NO EXCUSE to not have the brackets posted within a half a day after your seeding meeting. If the person responsible is busy, GIVE THE PASSWORD to someone who can post the brackets. Please e-mail or call your Regional directors and offer to help them in posting the brackets for TOMORROW!

Do they rebracket Saturday morning if someone does not make weight - or is it just scratch/bye? Or do they redraw the byes if there are any.

Not all seading meetings were held last night. Some are today an this evening. And no, they wont be wrestling if they dont wrestle if they dont make weight.

My point was they could make tenative brackets. Once weigh-ins and skin checks are completed and any sick kids are eliminated. Then the "official" bracket can be made Saturday morning after weigh-ins. I thought if someone doesn't make weight at a qualifying tournament then the byes had to be redrawn. The regional directors could post the seeds dicussed at the meeting when they are done. Not many brackets would change - but I would say there is a good chance someone in the state doesn't make weight tomarrow.
