pat dykstra over koster of hoxie Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. However, you said the wrong Hoxie wrestler. It was actually Travis Baker. Baker gave him a hard crossface while he was trailing and Dykstra opted to take the easy win with an injury default off of an illegal move. I'll meet you at Kansas Speedway in half an hour for your ride with the legend of NASCAR, Ricky Bobby. Ah, yes, I did get my Hoxie wrestling families mixed up. In my defense, I was in such a hurry to win "the ride of a lifetime" that I overlooked that detail. I guess I'll be working on your pit crew for free this week!!

That's okay you can just sit on Horgan's lap since he got the proper semifinalist and Chewie gets to ride on the back spoiler.

Three guys from out of state. One from Blue Springs, MO at the Abilene-Manhattan Duals, the other two were at a dual tournament in Nebraska a kid from Billings, MT and the other was from Nebraska. I believe those are his first losses in high school wrestling.

I like how wrestler15 gave some of the Douglass kids some love but, Andrew Shaft at 145 from Douglass deserves some consideration as well. not sure how many saw his match against Rempe in the quarters, but this was the craziest match of the tournament in my opinion. Cruising with a 6-2 lead, Shaft tosses Rempe out of bounds, and lands on his head. Obviously stunned, Shaft attempts to gut it out and finish the match, but can barely wrestle. He ends up getting pinned late in third, and Rempe makes it to the finals for another great match up with Spangler. Great tournament to watch, and an unlucky break for Shaft.

Here is how my predictions turned out for the tournament: 59 out of 84 placers 70.2% 12 of 14 correct champions 85.7%
Not too bad considering all of the upsets that occurred this weekend. I really bit hard on Cimarron's good records and how they performed at regionals and it hurt me because I had three of their kids placing. Also got bitten by the three returning Norton state placers who didn't medal this year.

So another side note is Baker losing that mach probaly gave hoxie an edge on winning the team title as they lost one match on the second day of state kyle lewis lost to brian bird. Can anyone name the town and the weight of the person who didnt compete in the state tournament that year because he was caught shoplifting

Was it Seth Ruder of Oakley competing at 119 or Jerrod Zellner of West Elk wrestling in that same 130 lb. weight class giving up a bye to Jay Hrabe of Plainville? Both of these guys did not wrestle and gave up byes in the brackets I possess.

Seth didn't wrestle one year, but it was because he broke his finger and had a pin sticking out of the top of it, not because he got caught shoplifting!

Brad Seever of Pleasant Ridge a junior that year with a 28-3 record coming into the state tournament that year. Chris Look of Stockton got the bye and went onto the semifinals to get beat by the eventual state champion Steve Kuder of Minneapolis, a senior. Look finished fourth to freshman Bryan Miller of Oberlin.
I have two sets of brackets from that year and only one of them had Seever as a scratch.
Maybe we should think about doing a system where alternates can be brought in from each regional if a wrestler in that weight can't compete because it seems to happen frequently the week of state that a kid will make a bad decision, get injured, or become ill during this week. I know that they do this in Texas.

Don't know anythingabout Seever not geeting to wrestle at State. I do know he was a very good wrestler. He and my son wrestled twice 1n 1998--the championship match of the Holton Tournament and a dusl at our HS. Both matches were shoot and counter, take down and reverse. Seever scored late and won both matches by 2 -3 points. Tragically, he was burned in a an accident and I don't think he wrestled after that. Last I heard a few years ago was that he was studying art at the KC Art Institute. A good kid!!.
