Meaning no disrespect to those entering the tourney with losing records - I just bring this out as a point of discussion, I had some time on my hands and did the following:
(number below is kids with records of 500% or less wins)
WT 6a 4a
103 6 2 112 3 0 119 3 0 125 5 0 130 0 1 135 4 0 140 2 0 145 3 1 152 1 1 160 5 0 171 4 1 189 4 0 215 3 0 285 1 0 ______________________________________ total: 44 6
6a: only one weight class that had no losing records in it (130).
4a: NINE weight classes with no losing records in it.
I'm not a 'math man'. But the numbers seem to indicate to me that it is more challenging to make state in 4a rather than 6a. I don't want to try to draw out any other conclusions other than that. I am just providing the numbers for the group to discuss if they so desire.
And, again - no disrespect to those going into the tourney with a losing record. You are still competing in the world's greatest sport -- ONE on ONE which takes tremendous courage no matter what one's record is.

I have been reading this forum for years... I thought this was going to be the first year that this boring topic would not arise....Which class is tougher, easier, harder to qualify etc. YAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had that much time on my hands to figure that out! Good luck to all men (winning or losing records) 321-1 through 6A that have qualified for state and will compete and allow us to watch you compete and give us something to talk about for the years to come.

David Dean Welsh my name. The one and only. No SR or JR.
I just found the numbers interesting and was looking for a discussion - not a personal attack.

As far as time -- with these new fangled things called computers, it took me all of 15 minutes to put the data together.

It's all wrestling talk this week so even this old subject is kinda fun!
6A vs. 4A hmmmmmm. Once again, at the top it leans to 6A. Depth goes to 4A. A dual match would be really close!
103 - Windham vs. Kriss 112 - Miller vs. Ornelas 119 - Vesta vs. Sparr 125 - DeShazer vs. Weller 130 - Cox vs. Cokeley 135 - Maple vs. Napier 140 - Dozier vs. Jesseph 145 - Means vs. Hattabaugh 152 - Conklin vs. Newell 160 - Caldwell vs. Armstrong 171 - Nelson vs. Arnberger 189 - Beard vs. Marrs 215 - Caylor vs. Kriss 285 - Vincent vs. Finney
All of these guys report to Cokeley's barn a week after state and let's settle the issue!

Many aren't smart enough to take the needed time off to heal.

They can when they want to get something! No, actually they can't. They are simply facts--bits of information. The lie must come in the offering, or the refuting of the information. They have been offered in this case as a comparison of the quality, or quantity as the case may be, of wrestlers going to state based on a flawed system where 50% of the varsity wrestlers in a given classification go to state while 25% of another go. That is the offering. So far the refuting has come in the form of attacking the post as boring and implying the numbers are a lie. Sometimes the indefensible position is the position YOU hold.
