The other event that was being referred to is the USAW Kids National Championships at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa (not exactly close, but a lot easier to get to than Virginia Beach).
I really wish Brute would have moved there tournament back a week so it was on Easter weekend and was not the same time as two other premier national tournaments. In years past Brute has been a very difficult tournament in the Junior, Sophomore, and Freshmen classes. This year’s event seems to have lost many of the better wrestlers who come for the high school division to Virginia Beach and Cedar Falls.

Moving it to a different weekend than Senior Nationals and the USAW Kids Nationals would be a good idea but I would not make it Easter weekend. I don't think you are going to attract as many out of town wrestlers on Easter weekend.

Good Evening All,
One correction, wrestling begins at 9 am tomorrow!
Front siders are:
Roger Windham Kenneth Ornelas Sharkey Slyter Kendric Maple C.J. Napier Cameron Jesseph Tyler Caldwell Kyle Detmer Boaz Beard Steven Kyler
The day in Virginia Beach was straight from the Chamber of Commerce except for a fairly stiff breeze. My wife and I walked down to the Beach after wrestling and just got back to the hotel a few minutes ago. The Beach and Atlantic Drive were fairly busy and it was great to run into several parents, coaches, and wrestlers from Team Kansas!
Also I must report that there has been a bit of a contest amongst a couple members of the coaching. The score to date is RG 6 and AA 2 ...

Windham, Ornelas and Slyter all with big wins first thing this morning!
Sharkey wins was over a foe from Michigan who had 220 wins and 144 pins in his career! An takedown in overtime sealed the deal!

Detmer loses a heart-breaker, 2-3.
Steven Kyler was tied after two, 3-3. He opted to wrestle on their feet but what he didn't plan on, was being tossed to his back. Kyler loses by fall.
Tyler Caldwell gave up an early point for fleeing and another for locked hands. He went into the 3rd period trailing, 0-2. From bottom he reversed and earned some tilt points to win, 4-2!
Boaz dispatches another! Beard giving the 10-1 drumming!

Thanks ...
Sommer won a decision!
Nelson, still napping, wins anyway ... 16-10!
Fulbright suffers his second loss.
VanHollard also takes his second defeat.
Roger Windham loses.
Kenneth Ornelas is in a tight one but loses ... 0-1.
Anson Worrell wins with a drama filled bout, 8-7!
Sharkey was leading, 3-1 after two, against Cox from Wyoming. With about 20 seconds, Sharkey who had been riding tough finally had to relent the escape but in doing so, gave up a head-and-arm to Cox. Slyter battles hard but loses ... 3-6.

So, to ask the obvious - Did Chase Nelson's 'nap' cause him to automatically go on the backside of the bracket?

Chaz Lawrence loses his 2nd bout.
Jesseph loses his first against Ortega from New Mexico.
Kendric dominated, earning a tech fall in the 2nd. It was 4-1 after one ... and in the second, it was a series of tilts!
C.J. also advanced winning in workman style, 7-4!
John Lynch suffers his 2nd loss ... 3-8.
Tyler Caldwell was in a war. 0-0 after one ... Caldwell on top in the 2nd and with 5 seconds left, gave up the escape. Caldwell working from bottom ... with 27 seconds left scored the reversal. He hung on for the 2-1 win!!
Mitch Means came back to win, 3-2!
Colby Crank picks up the 5-3 win!
