Is the Metro a test of the best or not? Vincent would pin any others that have been mentioned. Is that an easier concept?

I do see what you are talking about, but you seem so angry with a situation that does not effect you what so ever. Parent of a heavy weight maybe? Anyway, Lucas will not be wresting in the Metro Classic do to his shoulder injury. He is being examined by the Mizzou staff this week and is under orders to do nothing until they look at him....so relax, Lucas isn't going to take the spot of someone more "deserving."

Please explain how feeling that a wrestler ,that was a member of his team for the full season, should represent team Kansas equates to “TRASH TALKING”. No one said anything derogatory about Mr. Vincent and it is clear if he would have decided to wrestle this year he would be a much welcome and deserving addition. I wonder if his High school coach or teammates would have been so accepting of his return to the Team if they had a Varsity wrestler already in that position. Live with your decisions and learn from your mistakes. http://varsity.kansascity.com/custom/article&news_id=3478http://varsity.kansascity.com/custom/article&news_id=3567

Me! Not the least bit angry. Did not effect me in any way. But, it would have affected some other deserving wrestlers, and there was a very big issue concerning "fairness".
Thanks for your reply and good Luck to Lucas at MU--would like to have seen him at KU or KSU.

As the dual approaches the final match, the Kansas faithful will all be wishing we had the giant beast that pins everybody. I say let's invite him.

I have no dog in this fight other than wanting to see Kansas win but I'll weigh in none the less. I hope my comments don't offend anyone because I certainly don't mean them too.
I think the question here is...what is the metro classic about? Is an "all star" event to reward kids for a great year by offering them attendance? Or is it an opportunity for kansas to beat missouri? We all know that all star events such as the MLB, NFL, and NBA all star games are simply to award the most deserving with an appearance. People talk about the number of all star games/pro bowls a guy has been too, not the number they've won. If that's the case for the metro classic then I say we invite someone who wrestled for the entire season and allow them to say they wrestled in the metro. However, if it's about beating Missouri, the choice is an easy one, you take the kid who has the best opportunity to score for Kansas--Lucas Vincent.
I would contend that as Kansans we do see this event as about winning. My evidence for this is in a heavyweight match that took place 2-3 years ago. Kansas was ahead by 4-5 points going into the final match and missouri trotted out all-american Dom Bradley. Kansas' heavyweight (whom I cannot remember who it was now) wrestled the match with no offense and simply refused to give bradley the opportunity to turn him. Bradley won the match 4-0 scoring 1 escape and then being awarded 3 stalling points. Kansas hung on to win the duel and Kansas fans rejoiced.
I guess if the point was participation we would have expected the kid to go out there and wrestle a match with no regard for the team score, however, that's not what happened and that's not what the fans wanted--we wanted Kansas to win and that's what it was all about.
If that's what it's about we need to put the kids on the mat that have the best opportunity to win for Kansas. If that's not what its about we need to stop caring about winning; and judging from the crowd at the last several metro classics, I don't see that happening.
