Was T. Baird 171 from Pratt at this tourney? Who beat D Keith are their any brackets posted on this tourney? Reed vs. Hattabaugh must have been a dandy.

This is what I heard...
Hattabaugh and Reed was a good one. Hattabaugh had choice in ultimate OT, went down. Stood up, reached over and grabbed Reed's headgear, and gave upt he penalty point and lost.Reed had given up a penalty point in the 2nd period for a hard slap to the head, then took Hattabaugh down with a head shaking disply of athleticism.

That one along with Duhr and Deshazer was worth the 6 bucks to get in. The refs took a long time talking about it before giving the penalty piont. We thought they had gotten Reed for locked hands. Both kids where very athletic, fun to watch.

Three consolation finals matches not contested due to five match limit. That's a bogus rule.

Three consolation finals matches not contested due to five match limit. That's a bogus rule. If I am reading the results correctly, The Emporia Winter Classic had 16 consolation finals matches not wrestled due to this rule!

The worst rule by far. KSHSAA has to stand up and change this. When will the madness stop?

Never, because those in charge dont care about the sport! They only care about the pay that they get for making bad decisions, that hurt our wrestlers in the long run. I Triple Dare the KSHSAA to change the rule and prove me wrong! Oh, I forgot that they wont even see my dare because they dont even care enough to get on the message boards to even read it.

Clarification: This is not a KSHSAA rule.
This is a NFHS rule that is followed in every state in the country.
Might as well push for a KS 3 point takedown if it's really sweet. Maybe if an escape is super fast it should count as two in KS? I'm just sayin...
Rule 1.2.2 No wrestler should represent the school in more than 5 matches in any one day. Final Team Scores Newton 175, Heights 174, Andale 161, **According to the BC Tournament Standings Newton won the tournament by 1 pt over Wichita Heights.
119 1. Verbena, Pratt, def. Engles, Andale, 3-2; 3. Neal, Heights, by forfeit. ***At 119 lbs, Conner Neal of Wichita Heights won by forfeit he had only wrestled 4 matches and his opponent had wrestled 5 matches. NFHS Wrestling Case/Manual Pg. 6 1.2.2 Situation Ruling. If one wrestler had wrestled in four matches and the other in five matches, then the wrestler with four matches would be the winner by forfeit. So I interpret this as Conner would get a forfeit win and bonus pts b/c matches won by forfeit also allow the winner to get bonus points as well so this is all good. Below is my problem:
215 1. Crump, Pratt, def. Ediger, Dodge City, 8-4; 3. Garcia, Newton, by forfeit over Tyler Keller, NW. **The Third Place match here was decided by a coin flip because both wrestlers had competed in 5 matches. Garcia from Newton won the coin flip and was awarded 3rd Place and 5 team pts. 3 for third place and 2 bonus pts for bonus pts b/c of the forfeit. This put Newton on top of Wichita Heights 175 to 174. Now according to NFHS Wrestling Case/Manual Pg. 6 1.2.2 Situation.
If it was the match for third place and both wrestlers had been in five matches, then they would both receive points for fourth place. There could be no third-place finisher[ /b] So, according to the NFHS Case/Manual Situation Ruling for 1.2.2., Garcia of Newton along with Keller of NW should of both been awarded 4th place pts. and Garcia should not have received any points as 2nd & 4th place pts had already been awared before the finals started. Since third place was vacated as well, no bonus should have been awarded either? Therefore, the final team score of the Bishop Carroll Inv Should have been: Wichita Heights 174 Newton 170 Andale 161

When I read of the coin flip I immediately thought of the NFHS rules violation. This was a correctable error.
The NFHS Rules provide the following:
Section 6 Correction of Errors (page 32) Article 5 b. Team Score 1. Errors involving the recording or computation of team scores must be corrected within 30 minutes of the official posting of team scores.

LOL.... Thanks Richard That is why I post "Should of been" and not is! It's over.. It happens.. I learned something new and now hopefully by me posting this, someone else learned something in the future and this won't happen to them as well. I also learned something else as I was reading last night looking for the dang 5 match rule 10.3.2: When byes are required for the first round, they shall be placed by mutual consent or drawn so they are distributed evenly throughout the bracket. -So the 11 first round byes we had b/c we were seeded high in the brackets should not have happened as well. Like I said, it was a learning experience, I am not angry at all, I was just bored last night and started reading and discovered all kinds of crazy stuff! hahahaah!

The placement of byes has been a point of contention at BC for a while...happened to us last year.
Also last year they weren't awarding the proper points for a forfeit and were reluctant to make the corrections even after the rule being pointed out.
Almost like some of the officiating:)

I agree and remember that from last year. It is what it is. Newton had a great day and got rewarded for it. I guess if we don't want team points to be a problem, we need to win more matches
