I'm not going to say his name but one ref needs to hang up his shirt. He let two slams go and one wrestler had to Injury-deft. the rest of the tournment. The when was being TALKED to by the coach the ref. just smiled then laughed.

I second that opinion of that particular ref, just looked as if he didn't care!

Any video available so we can critique the "uncalled slams" as whether or not they weren't just "good aggressive wrestling?"

I can't give it to you but I will see if the family will. This was like a WWE two steps and jump in the high body slam. Does that give you the picture.

Wish I could have been there for that great NON SLAM call. There is almost NO WAY a KS Official missed a slam. They are chomping at the bit to blow the whistle and penalize. I cannot believe we have fans on here calling for more slams. STOP THE MADNESS, especially you Ed. You know that is just good hard wrestling! Always remember, a wrestler can get injured by a perfectly legal move!

The slam didn't bother me, it was the way the ref acted after the slam, he turned away from the coach (who was probably overreacting) with a smirk on his face and shrugged his shoulders.

That is way better than getting into a shouting match. Better to listen and walk away. We need MORE refs like him.

I don't usually get on here but this time I will and let you know that my son is still out of practice. one person has his right to their own opinion but now you showed yourself as a true jerk and I'm willing to let you know this to your face. You wanting to see someone get hurt I believe this is even low for you.

I don't think anywhere on this thread, or this entire forum, has he ever said he wants to see other wrestlers get hurt. You are taking what he actually is saying way out of context.

mr. metcalf there was clearly an extreme amount or sarcasm in the posts. if you look at a thread will started earlier about an illegal slam that was called at johnson county. He has been arguing these points for awhile now. and just made a sarcastic comment. i can see where your coming from, but i think you took it out of context as well

You wanting to see someone get hurt I believe this is even low for you. Yet another first time poster attack!! Fabulous! Al, welcome to the Forum. Apparently you must be new to the sport as well. Lots of wrestlers and athletes in other sports as well are injured during perfectly legal situations. There is inherent risk when you compete. Heck, I broke both bones in my right arm and both bones in my right leg while wrestling and the moves were completely legal. My point is that you cannot beg for a slam call just because someone was injured. Wrestling is a combat sport and lots of injuries occur due to inexperience not due to illegal moves. I know the official who is being attacked and I guarantee you it was not a slam without having even seen the video. You can call me names all you want but at least I am not advocating the pussification of our great sport. By the way, thanks for using you real name and I would be more than happy to watch the video or talk to you in person any time. I hope your son gets healed up soon and back on the mat.

Will, I have been in this sport for about 43 yrs. and I probably was one of the more agressive wrestlers around. Love this sport, but to the point of letting things go to far no. For the ref, we see him a lot down here in SEK and he is a 50/50 ref. at best.

al coached the ft. scott teams with the lattimer brothers, alvin metcalf , brent cagle, nathan allison, i can go on. those guys always went 110% and i have seen them put a hurtin' on guys legal and illegal (always accidental) but illegal. i seriously doubt that the slam was anything but an accident from a kid who couldn't control the defensive wrestler. al i hope he gets back soon, and good luck to all the tigers.
