2011 Excelsior Springs Youth Wrestling Classic

Entry Deadline Saturday, February 6, 2011. LIMITED TO THE FIRST 500 ENTRIES. Tournament usually fills fast!!!

Entry Fee: $15.00 per wrestler – must accompany entry and is non-refundable. Make checks payable to Excelsior
Springs Youth Wrestling Club, 1235 Michelle Drive, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024.

Weigh-Ins: ALL WRESTLERS ARE REQUIRED TO WEIGH –IN WEARING A SINGLET. NAILS WILL ALSO BE
CHECKED. We also will require their USA Wrestling Card for weigh-ins. Please make sure that all
wrestlers have their card.

Weigh-ins will be held on Sunday 11, from 6:30-7:45 am (locker room). The wrestler must make the
weight he/she is entered at. THERE WILL BE A $15.00 FEE FOR MOVING UP A WEIGHT AND THAT
WILL ONLY BE AN OPTION IF THE NEXT HIGHER WEIGHT HAS AN OPENING IN THE BRACKET.
There will be NO CHANGES after 7:45am on the day of the tournament. NO EXCEPTIONS.

We will also have a Saturday night weigh-ins from 6:30-8:00 pm on February 12th at Excelsior
Springs High School – Follow signs when in the building.

We will also accept the wrestler’s weigh-in card from a USA Sanctioned tournament that they
participated in on Saturday, February 12th. BUT ALL WRESTLERS MUST CHECK IN. IF THEY DO
NOT, THEY WILL BE SCRATCHED FROM THE TOURNAMENT.

Format: Open tournament. There may or may not be a novice division this will depend on the amount of entries in
the age and weight division. Seeding will be based on last year’s win/loss record. If you have a first year
wrestler, please make sure it is noted so they may be seeded accordingly.
USA cards: Current USA card mandatory. (Please list on the entry)

Rules: USA WRESTLING RULES APPLY. Double elimination. A 10-minute rest period between matches.
There will be a tournament director, head official, and all officials will be certified.

We will seed the wrestlers based on the information you provide on the entry form. YOU MUST
INCLUDE LAST YEAR’S RECORD TO BE SEEDED. Also you may rate them 1=State Medalist; 2=State
Qualifier; 3=Experienced; 4=Novice; 5=1st year Novice.

Conduct: We reserve the right to withdraw any person, wrestler, coach, parent, etc. from the tournament and the
premises for any and all misconduct. This will not be tolerated and this will be strictly enforced.
Coaches: Must have a valid Missouri USA coach’s card to be given a floor pass. You must present this card and
a picture ID at the announcer’s stand prior to 8:00am, or after said time you may get a floor pass in the
bracket room.

PLEASE INFORM YOUR PARENTS TO STAY IN THE STANDS, AS WE WILL BE
CHECKING FLOOR PASSES. ANY PERSON CAUGHT ON THE FLOOR WITHOUT A PASS COULD
RESULT IN THEM BEING EJECTED FROM THE TOURNAMENT.

BRACKETS MAY BE COMBINED WHEN A SMALL NUMBER OF ENTRIES EXISTS IN A
WEIGHT CLASS.

Age: Bracketing according to age as of January 1, 2011. NO FRESHMAN OR 15 YR OLDS.

Periods: 6 and 8 will have 3 one-minute periods. 10, 12, and 14 will have 3 one and ½ minute periods.
OVERTIME WILL BE SUDDEN DEATH.

Awards: Individual medals awarded for 1st – 4th places in 8-man brackets. 1st – 6th places in 16-man brackets.

Concessions: Breakfast rolls; lunch and snacks will be served in the cafeteria. ABSOLUTELY NO COOLERS, DRINKS,
OR FOOD WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE GYM AREA.
