You show some folks that there regional is a Joke they take it personal. compared to some state's the whole kansas wrestling system is a joke. you still didn't really prove anything except what people already knew to be true. you truly don't have a clue. guess they don't teach class, and humility in wind powered turbine school. i'll help you out as much as i can, people don't care as much about the regional as much as they do about getting to you.

For my own interest I did a finger drill on the wrestling set up in the surrounding states
Kansas: 224 schools with wrestling. Four classes with 32,32, 64, 96 schools. Classes established on school enrollments. 8 bracket regionalss in 5A and 6A. 16 bracket regionals in 4A and 321A. Four state tournament sites.
Colorado: 233 schools with wrestling. 4 classes with 4 regionals in each class (2A: 58 biggest schools, 3A: next 44 schools, 4A: 66 schools, 5A: 65 schools). Do not know how and why they establish their classes.
Missouri: 224 schools with wrestling. 4 classes, each class with 56 schools. 4 districts (regionals) in each class with 14 schools. Appears that classes (in all Sports) in Missouri are established by dividing the number of schools in a sport by a 4 or eight. Missouri sports have different numbers of participating schools in the different classes, i.e, wrestling 224 schools, basketball 324 schools. One state tournament site (U. of Missouri) with a 3 day tournament, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Iowa: 250 +/- schools. 3 classes with 8 districts in each class: Class 3: (big schools) 64 schools with 8 schools per district, Class 2: 90 schools, Class 1: 96 schools. One state tournament site for the individual state tournament. Iowa also has a State Duals tournament. I think the top two teams in each district advance to the 3 class state duals tournament held a week after the individual tournament.. I am not sure all this about Iowa is all corredt. Not explained very well on the IHSAA website.
Nebraska: 212 schools in 4 classes with 4 districts in each class: Class A: 32 (8 schhols per district), Class B: 48 schools (12 schools per district), Class C: 64 schools (16 schools per district), Class D: 68 schools (17 schools per district.
Oklahoma: 146 schools in 4 classes with 2 16 bracket regionals in each class, except 3A. Class 6A: 32 schools, Class 5A: 32 schools, Class 4A: 32 schools, Class 3A: 50 schools with 26 and 24 school regionals. One 2 day state tournament site. oklahoma also does a Dual State tournament. I think the top 2 teams in each regional advance to the class dual tournament.
No two states are the same. Close, but some differences. Differences caused by number of schools, school enrollments, land area size of the states, distribution of schools by class within the separate state. So each state organizes as the powers think best! To change it you have to convince the powers that change is better.

Here's the corrected part: 3A -- 64 biggest schools (by enrollment); eight eight-team districts, top two in each weight qualify for State. Top two teams in each wrestle in Regional duals, winner goes to State duals
2A -- Next 96 schools. 16 six-team Sectionals, top two in each advance to four-man bracket Districts (12 teams in each, a week later). Top two in each District advance to State. Top two teams from each Sectional advance to a four-team Regional dual with winner going to State duals.
1A -- Remaining 128+ schools, same format as 2A for Sectionals, Districts and Regional duals.
About 290 total schools.
Sectionals were the first Saturday in February, Districts the second and tradional State was this past week (Wednesday-Saturday). State duals are this coming Saturday.
Also Colorado's Regions are just like everyone elses; by enrollment.

The size is correct on Colorado Schools but 2A is the smaller with 5A the larger. (Burlington, CO where I wore a singlet with tights way long time ago, won second state tournament in a row.) Doug Duell, great wrestler from Goodland is head coach.
Nebraska is voting on a dual state tournament in April.

Lucas you can say our system is a joke but it does one thing that the others dont it gives alot of wrestlers the opportunity to go to state. That experience alone is one of a lifetime and you should know even if a kid who has a losing record makes it so what he will never forget that moment, and the best wrestlers will end up placing at state no matter what happens if your deserving you will place at state no reason to complain it works out. I personally think no matter what the best of the best make it there and if they have a losing record well so be it what if they end up doing well at state your win loss truly means nothing at this time of the year.

Do not have much experience with wrestling. Son wrestled in HS 12-16 years ago, and I have been a fan since. But, for the life of me I can not understan what and why the push for a "dual state tournament". More costs, more time, and proves what? Does small school champ wrestle biggest school champ after some qualification process, or do 2 schools from same class wrestle for the trophy. If from different classes, how pair? Sounds like a second chance venture for kids who did not make it to the "individual" state tournament. Is not wrestling an individual sport. If a team sport let's line 2 or more schools up in a cage--I think it is called WWF! Is this something the kids want, or is it being driven by dads and coaches who are reliving their glory days vicariously in their son's sports. Lets go play baseball and run track, or for those who want, go do USA Wrwstling.

Iowa has had dual State for 25+ years and it has been pretty popular. Sectional team champions (in 1A and 2A) and runners-up have a four team Regional the Tuesday after Sectionals. The winning team advances to the State Duals. The first and second place team from each 3A District (since 3A doesn't have Sectionals) wrestle tonight, and the winner goes to State Duals.
Duals are this Saturday in Cedar Rapids (US Cellular Center). First round is at 10, semis at 2:30 and the finals and consolations at 6:30. It's a great show and a great way to finish the year. And what's interesting is that there have not been that many times over the years that the same team that wins the traditional tournament wins the duals.

Now we just need to give all the kids participation ribbons to make it even better of an experience if they don't get onto the stands...they will never forget a souvenir like that either!

I am assuming that you were being sarcastic Enetophobic but if not, disregard my comment. I did not gather that anyone was insinuating that "we" give "all the kids participation ribbons" so that was kind of a crappy ridiculous thing to say. I don't want everyone to get "something" because when my kid or your kid or anyone elses kid gets something, it really won't mean anything will it. You do realize that wrestling is not the "most popular" sport in America though, especially in Kansas. Most people in Kansas that don't wrestle or have a connection to wrestling think it is a joke. I have even heard people say that it is not even a sport even though it is the oldest sport on the planet. I do believe that the quickest way to grow the sport is for more people to experience success, etc. If they have a positive experience they will encourage their kids and others to wrestle as well and the sport will grow. If not, well you get the picture. There is nothing wrong in my opinion with four classes of 16 qualifiers and 6 medalists. In fact, I think it is great and instead of people whining all the time about combining 5A and 6A we could just take 4A and 3/2/1A and create a 2/1A and spread all the 4A and 3/2/1A teams equally over three classes. Now let it fly if you must.
