There is talk on the Missouri forum and other places that there might be new weight classes in effect for next year. Anybody now if this is coming to KS and if so for next year?

Just curious. Thanks,

This was a proposal that coaches were asked to vote on this year, I believe National Federation is compiling the voting data:

Coaches were asked to either leave weight classes the same, or change to this:

106
113
120
126
132
138
145
152
160
170
182
195
220
285

There is a NFHS Wrestling Rules Committee Meeting on 4/4/11, if I remember correctly, this proposal was voted on last year in april also.

I have no idea when the weight class changes would go into effect??

I think National Federation rules changes usually are released in the late summer??

But, not sure...

Anything above 14 weight classes is too many!

This passed on the vote from schools in Missouri according to the sources that will associate with me. The state has not said whether they are adopting it or not. I believe the state is waiting to see if passes nationally.

I have been told that Iowa passed this and is putting the new weights in effect whether it passes nationally or not. Again this is told to me by sources that will associate with me.

So far you have remained cowardly enough not to associate with me. However if you would like to meet me I can make myself available at the Southern Plains in Kansas this year.

I can't imagine why others would not want to associate with you!

I don't get the push for a change. Anybody have good reasoning for why they are wanting to change? In my opinion if anything they should be going back to 12 weight classes.

I like the current weights. Don't know the reason but it apparently has some momentum. Brings up the bottom making it tougher on the little guys and takes a weight out between 125-140 where there are a ton of kids. JMO

I would like to see a list of 4A schools that would have been able to fill these weight classes and been better this year. I would have had kids that were wrestling up and not been nearly as good. We don't cut much weight anyway. I can't think of a year when I have had 4 quality kids that could fill the 4 weight classes below 285. I don't like the change at all.
