My name is Mike Schadwinkel, the head coach at Grand Island, NE. We annually host a large dual tournament called the Flatwater Fracas this December 16-17, 2011. We had 24 teams this past December and look to grow it to 30-32 teams. Over the past 4 years we have hosted Manhattan High as well as Smith Center from Kansas. I think you if you would talk with Coach Hutch or Coach Gonzales you would receive positive information about the event. We are aggressively trying to recruit teams from out of Nebraska to reach our goal of 32 teams. I must stress to anyone looking ahead to 2012 or 2013 to consider this year because 32 teams will be the cap under the current dual format. We have considered an individual format, but we feel the duals has been a great avenue to get more kids matches, as well as providing a "team-centered" event for the fans. Anyway, with all of that being said, if you have an interest, coaches, please get in touch with me: Mike Schadwinkel mschadwi@gips.org or my AD Joe Kutlas jkutlas@gips.org and we'll be getting teams booked in the coming weeks. One goal is to get to the point where we are turning teams away. We want this to be where the best teams come to dual each other! Here is a website to look up more information about the event: http://www.gips.org/senior/activitiesathletics/islander-wrestlingTeams already in, we hope to have renewal contracts out soon...

The Flatwater Fracas field is filling up. We currently have 27 teams contracted and representing Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska. This year is shaping up to be the deepest tournament yet, including Nebraska's Class A state champions and runners-up, plus 4 other top 12 teams, plus Class B state champions Central City and 2 other top 11 Class B schools. We are very interested in getting other or a couple of Kansas schools any size, please contact me via email if you are interested mschadwi@gips.org

The Flatwater Fracas this year will fall on December 14-15, 2012. We are still interested in Kansas schools. This past season we had 30 schools represented by schools from Kansas (6A champs Manhattan), Nebraska (Class A champs Grand Island, Class B runners-up Central City), Wyoming and Colorado. Get in touch with us if you are interested. We have gotten this tournament to the point where we have 32 schools and are building it for competitiveness at this point.

Kansas Coaches this is a great dual tournament and you will get plenty of mat time and see a lot of tough wrestlers. You want some tough bouts: Grand Island is loaded; they have back AA/2time SC Rodriquez at #106 asophomore., #113 Mottl Fr.21-17, #120 Bolan,Junior 30-11 3rd state.,#126 Trujllo 35-4 Jr., 2nd(two-time-placer,#132 Rojas 31-9 a sophomore 4th.,#138-#145-#152-#220 & #285 all seniors graduated.Return #160 Fr., Thompson 32-13 DNP at State., #170 Reis, So., 35-3 2nd place., #182 Talundie 20-7 DNP a sophomore.Ceballos, #195 Jr. 10-10 DNP. Return nine starters. Central City State Champions (class B) (remind me of Andover Central) tough kids. Gretna 3rd in State (class B) They are a Andale type school-all of them tough!. North Platte 3rd in large school remind me of Lawrence HS- and my favorite team to watch Omaha North 5th in state. This is a quality tournament and you are treated well. RMG
