These rankings always boggle my mind. The individual rankings usually make a little sense but I'm pretty sure the team rankings are just pulled from a hat or someone's...

For example...Ouachita Baptist has three guys picked to be All-Americans (5th,5th,7th) and they don't even get any votes, yet Pitt Johnstown is ranked #8 as a team with three guys ranked (5th,6th,7th). Ashland is ranked #10 as a team and has two guys ranked (7th and 8th). FHSU sits at #15 but has three guys picked to be AA's (1st, 2nd, 7th).

If someone can explain this...I'd love to hear it.

Here ya go Ike, this backs up what you were saying. It might still be a bit crude, and I didn't take the time to check all the math, but I simply went with with rankings and awarded the placing points for each spot to see how much the order would change. Now of course you can't factor in bonus. Is this the best method? Far be it from me to know, but this way would seem to make a more cohesive relationship between the individual rankings and the team rankings.

It definitely changed some things as we knew it would, but look at how much it changed!

1. St.Cloud - 82 pts
2. Upper Iowa - 58 pts
3. Auggie - 52 pts
4. Nebraska-Kearney - 48 pts
T5. Adams St - 32 pts
T5. FHSU Tigers - 32 pts
T5. Wisconsin Parkside - 32 pts
8. Newberry - 30 pts
9. Mercyhurst - 25 pts
T10. Central Oklahoma - 24 pts
T10. Findlay - 24 pts
12. Grand Canyon - 20 pts
13. Maryville - 20 pts
14. Limestone - 20 pts
15. Minn St.Moorhead - 19 pts
16. Ouchita Baptist - 18 pts
17. Pitt Johnstown - 17 pts
18. King - 13 pts
T19. N.C. Pembroke - 12 pts
T19. CSU-Pueblo - 12 pts
T19. Northern St - 12 pts

The top 4 teams stay pretty close to the same, which I think is no surprise. However, Ashland drops completely out and Ouchita Baptist moves into a solid 15th. There are some other pretty drastic shifts. The Tigers move up from 15th to a tie for 5th. UCO moves from 6th down to a tie for 10th, just to name a few. Again, maybe not the highest quality method as I don't spend a lot of time thinking about them. As a fan though who follows wrestling on all levels, I do enjoy to look at them, and I'd like to think I'm looking at something that represents performance up to whatever point in the season we are. The set put out the other day doesn't seem to do that when compared to the individual rankings. At the end of the day though, they're just rankings, and things will be settled here shortly on the mat, which is good to know!

Anyway, there it is for fun. See what you think. It was done pretty fast, figured and typed, so errors likely abound. smile
